Copy and Paste

Why can't copy and paste be used in the "inventory center" search bar? I use a different program to look up parts, so copying from another source and being able to paste it, instead of either trying to remember a part number/scribble it down, or tabbing back and forth between pages would be a TREMENDOUS time saver!! This is such a simple task to have implemented, yet QB lacks this basic function.

I can see how the benefit of being able to copy and paste the info in the Inventory Center search bar would aid you in managing inventory items with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @pvo2022. That's why I'm here to share a few details about this.

For the time being, you'll have to manually search the inventory items you want to view and manage information. We take customer suggestions as opportunities to improve the various features of our products. Therefore, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations.

Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose  Send Feedback Online.
  3. Click on Product Suggestion.
  4. Click on the drop-down for Type of Feedback and select Product Suggestion.
  5. Select the Product Area.
  6. Then enter your thoughts and suggestions.
  7. Once done, select Send Feedback.

Also, to further guide you in managing your inventory and learn more about how QuickBooks handles inventory assets and average cost and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), I'd recommend checking out our help page and one of our articles below:

I'm all ears if you have other concerns about managing inventories in QBDT. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @pvo2022

Yea, those fields are very screwy.  I've no idea what Intuit was thinking.

You can paste by first opening the search dialog window. Choose Custom Filter from the drop down and then paste into the For field:
