Quickbook is calculating my rates wrong all of a sudden. I didn't have this issue before.
Quickbook is telling me $10.30 * 0.60 = $6.19 (supposed to be $6.18). I tried it with $10.28 * 0.60 = $6.174, but QB rounded to $06.18. I also tired it with $10.30 * 0.70 = $7.22 (supposed to be $7.21).
Anyone encounter this issue before? And how do I fix it?

I've not seen it before.
What type of transaction are you seeing this on? What type of item are you using where it happens?
This is when I'm doing sales order and invoices. When I do sales order, I type in customer name, so QB auto populate the discount rate. Then the discount rate is multiple by the item pricing. The discount multiply by the item pricing is NOT coming our correctly. There shouldn't even be a rounding issue.
RE: When I do sales order, I type in customer name, so QB auto populate the discount rate.
I don't see a discount rate, but QB does calculate that right rate based on the price level set on the customer record. Is that what you mean?
RE: Then the discount rate is multiple by the item pricing.
I don't know what you mean by that.
RE: Quickbook is telling me $10.30 * 0.60 = $6.19 (supposed to be $6.18). I tried it with $10.28 * 0.60 = $6.174, but QB rounded to $06.18.
Questions:
- What is the regular price for the item?
- What are the price level settings for the level you're using? Is any rounding applied?
The regular price of the item is $10.30. The discount is $0.60. There's no rounding issue because
$10.30 * 0.60 comes out to be exactly $6.18. There wasn't a issue before and it just started happening a week ago.
I tired changing the price to$10.28. Manual calculation, $10.28 * 0.60 = $6.174. QuickBook has it as $6.18.

RE: $10.30 * 0.60 comes out to be exactly $6.18
This suggests the discount is 40%, not 60 cents.
I set up a Price Level with a 40% discount and it worked right for me. For an item that cost 10.30 each, the resulting price for the price level is 6.18.
How is your price level set up? Does it look like this when you edit it? Something different?
RE: I tired changing the price to$10.28. Manual calculation, $10.28 * 0.60 = $6.174. QuickBook has it as $6.18.
10.28 * 0.6 is 6.168, not 6.174. When I tried it in QB, I got 6.168 as the rate, as expected.
It seems like QuickBooks is consistently both rounding and adding a cent in your case. That could be a product of the rounding setting on the price level, if you've selecting anything but "no rounding" as seen above.
I get your results when I set the price level up like this:
Yes, the customer is getting 40% discount, so it's $10.30 * 0.60 (they are paying for 60% of the product price) = $6.18. QB is telling me it's $6.19.
Can you show me where I can go double check the price level? But, the weird thing is I have not changed anything, how can the price just change itself?
Also, typo earlier, $10.29 * 0.60 = $6.174 => QB rounded to $6.18.
I don't think it can change itself.
Review the prices levels you have set up on the Price Level list:
I checked the price level. That doesn't seem to be the issue. The STRANGE part is I checked the QB on the sever, there isn't a issue. I did a side by side comparison of the price discount and you'll see that there's an error on some of these calculations are just added an additional 0.01 for NO reason. Am I not seeing something right?
RE: That doesn't seem to be the issue.
How did you determine that's not the issue (we still don't know how the price level is set up...)?
I review the Price Level and noticed that the price level on the workstations are the same as the one on the sever computer. No one has access to change price level other than sever computer. Additionally, the sever computer is the only computer that was calculating the discounts correctly.
I actually called QB and the support actually told me to "repair the QB software and reinstall all updates," which seem to have fixed the calculation error.
To me, this seems like QB issue, not my price level set-up issue.
