Deleted memorized transaction and lost my "transactions" even after restoring

I was trying to clean up some old memorized transactions and when I deleted one of them it deleted all of the current transactions in my transactions list but not my checking account-?  I did a restore which brought back the memorized transactions, but not the actual transactions in my transactions list-?  How do I get those back?

Deleted memorized transaction and lost my "transactions" even after restoring

thanks for the quick response.... I figured out what happened...  someone went into the chart of accounts and checked the "this is a payroll item" check box which moved all of the transactions out of the "Check" transactions list (which is where I always look) and into the "Other Payroll" transactions list.  Problem solved!  Thanks!

I should clarify...  it didn't delete "all" of my transactions, just the check transactions related to that same vendor/associated name.

Hi VSWC,

You'll want to restore the correct backup copy to get the transactions.

You can refer to this article for further details on how to restore your company file in QuickBooks Desktop: Restore your file.

If you need some information about managing your desktop account, you can visit this article for your future reference: Help articles. You can click each to view them.

Deleted memorized transaction and lost my "transactions" even after restoring

Thanks MadelynC.  However, it must be something else... I restored the back-up again (this time from a different file from late last week) and apparently, deleting the memorized transaction isn't what caused them to disappear out of the transaction list.  The transactions are related to our bi-weekly payroll and I typically find the last one and then duplicate the transaction.  I have looked in the audit trail and cannot find anything that would lead me to why these payroll transactions are not showing up in "Transactions".   Do you have any idea what may have caused this?  Again, the checks are still in the ledger, they have not disappeared, they are just not showing up in "Transactions".

Deleted memorized transaction and lost my "transactions" even after restoring

Thank you for getting back to us here on the Community page, @VSWC.

The damage data of your company file may cause this problem, to resolve this, we can start by verifying and rebuilding your company file.

To run the verify and build tool for Mac:

  1. Go to the File menu, then choose Utilities.
  2. Click on Verify Data.

If you receive a prompt stating QuickBooks has detected a problem, then proceed to the next step.

  1. Go to the File menu then choose Utilities.
  2. Tap on Rebuild Data.
  3. After the rebuild completes, run another verify as stated on the previous step to confirm if problems have been resolved.

If that doesn't work after doing it at least twice, you may need to resort the list to fix the problem. For your guide, check out this article: Re-sort lists.

If resorting the list still didn't work, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team check and review this further securely. To contact support, tap on QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu, then Contact us.

Keep me posted if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help. Have a good day!
