In 2 years I will have to move from Quickbooks Desktop pro to the Online version or a competing application. I found this link that shows all the items that are stripped out of the desktop version to go to the online.
Curious, what has been added?

Do you have any suggestions?
These say that they I do not have an online account, which I do not, so I cannot see them.

If you need help to migrate data (including the data type I mentioned earlier) from QB Desktop to QB Online or another cloud based accounting app, contact us in private for assistance.
Anyway, why would you consider leaving QB Desktop? You can setup a simple private cloud solution if required.
I prefer to stay with the Desktop version, but I hear it is all moving to the online version. Is this not correct? I have been a QB Desktop user since 1995. I also use it for payroll
The company is the one who prefers to migrate all QBD users to QBO. As long as the features in QBO do not match those of QBD, users will continue or switch to use QBD.
Hello @BobWinner.
Welcome to the Community. Thank you for being a longtime QuickBooks user. I can appreciate wanting to continue to use QuickBooks Desktop. When you are familiar with a product, its navigation, and features, it makes your workflow so easy.
QuickBooks Online is easy and convenient to use and you can access your software from any computer or mobile device. In our fast-paced business environment having the flexibility to work on the go is an asset for many small businesses.
Having said that, we currently do not have plans to discontinue QuickBooks Desktop completely in the foreseeable future.
If you're curious and would like to check out QuickBooks Online, we have a free 30-day trial that you can take advantage of.
Let me know if you have any additional questions about our software or anything else. We're here to help any time.
Have a great day!
So as of now, Quickbooks Desktop 2024 will be offered. I use Payroll as well. I did see what they were ripping out of it to go online and was concerned as I use some of the features they were ripping out.
im looking to see what i will change to because I am not going to go online only. I literally refuse. I will not loose control of my data. i will not be subject to not being able to work on QB when internet is out or spotty. sad that they plan to loose so much business by choosing to force online only which my understanding is it is more costly and i think i pay enough already
Run away. Find another job. QBO is buggy junk that cannot be repaired. Further customer service will directly lie to you. I'm happy to provide examples from this forum. QBO is always broken and because you don't hold the file, you cannot repair it. Run.
