Disable auto-recall

Hello,

Whenever we try to create a new journal entry, the journal entry # is auto populated.

For example: If the last journal entry # used was 13, then when I click create new journal entry the journal entry # will be automatically populated as 14.

How can we disable this feature to leave the journal entry # blank to be left for manually typing it in? Note that this same auto population feature does the same thing for invoices and purchase orders (probably more but at least these 3)

Thanks,

Matt

Disable auto-recall

We hear your suggestions and recognize your need for the feature, Andrulis.

The option to turn off the number sequence in your journal entry, invoices, and purchase order is unavailable. QuickBooks will follow the numbers automatically when you create a transaction.

While the option is unavailable, I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. This will give us an idea of how we may improve the functionality of QBO to meet users' needs and enhance the working experience.

Here's how to send feedback on your browser:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Type in your product suggestions, then click Next to submit feedback.

You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

On the other hand, you can set up a scheduled transaction or create a recurring transaction template for transactions without a regular schedule for your customer. For detailed instructions, open this link: Create recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve your experience with QuickBooks or help you with other fields of your preferences. I am always here to assist you. Take care.

Disable auto-recall

Thanks for the response. I forgot to mention, as I seen that same recommendation to disable that setting in another forum post. However, that setting is already disabled for us and has never been enabled at any point to my knowledge. Odd that everyone suggests it, yet that setting does not affect the auto-population of transaction numbers unless we are experiencing a bug across all users of our company account.

Disable auto-recall

Hello there, Andrulis.

I have updated my response above about turning off the auto-recall of your journal entry numbers. You may send a feature request to our Product Development about this matter since turning it off is unavailable.
