Using QB Desktop for Mac 2024

Trying to download my Amex transactions as I've done for years.

Connects to Amex.

Then I get:

There were problems with the account(s) at your financial institution.

Tried with Chase bank and got the same thing. I reconnected to both.  Seems like it's a QB issue, not Amex.  Anyone else having issues?

Thanks for reaching out about your banking concerns, AVIDPgh. I'll provide some guidance to help you reconnect and successfully download transactions from American Express and Chase.

I've reviewed our records and I can see that there were previous investigations regarding this error when connecting accounts from these financial institutions. However, they have already been closed by our engineers.

Let me share the troubleshooting steps that can resolve common banking errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

First, ensure that the financial institution's list is up-to-date. While this list is automatically updated with the latest release, there are times when certain banks are not included.

Follow these steps to manually update it:

  1. Go to File, then Close Company.
  2. Press both the Command button and the number 1 on your keyboard to display the Product Information window.
  3. Select the Logging tab, then select Delete FiDir.
  4. Close and reopen QuickBooks.
  5. Open your company file, then go the Banking, then Online Banking Setup to try and reconnect to your account.

Second, create a test company if you continue experiencing the same error after manually updating the financial institution's list. Here's how:

  1. Go to File and select New Company.
  2. Create a name for the test file, then Save.
  3. Complete the Create New Company wizard, then select Finish.
  4. Add the account that was experiencing issues to the Chart of Accounts.
  5. Set up Online Banking for that account.
  6. Select Download transactions.

If you continue to have the same error, I recommend reaching out to our support team. They can take a closer look at the error and investigate what might be causing the problem. Here's an article with details on how to contact them: Contact QuickBooks Desktop Support.

Additionally, allow me to share these articles for further guidance when using the banking features in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac:

Amex is working fine for me here.  Note that the connection method is Express web Connect now for both Amex and Chase if you haven't connected in a long while. You can see the method you are using by going to the Chart of Accounts, select your Amex or Chase account, choose Edit Account, and then click on Online Settings.

That's how it's set up and it was working fine last month.  Now I'm getting a new error:

and when I view connections:

I don't know how to remove the Delegate connection.

Allow me to direct you to that post, where one of my colleagues has already responded with troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

Thank you.  The new error was from me trying to "fix" it.  Unfortunately, I can't seem to get it working at all.
