My wife has the app on her phone and we pay a fee for that tool for her business. We then have moved to the complete software, on a home computer and are paying for that license. It appears the Quickbooks for self-employed includes tracking mileage and processing receipts via your phone so at this point we're thinking the mobile app is redundant?
Happy to help, @jntcasey.
Allow me to share some information about tracking mileage in QuickBooks. This way, I can guide you accordingly.
Are you using QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) app and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac? If so, these two platforms have different functions as far as tracking mileage is concerned. With the QBSE mobile app, you can monitor your company's mileage manually and automatically. Then, in QBDT, you can enter your miles by hand.
If you want to use the two programs in tracking mileage, then you're right that it's redundant. On that note, I suggest choosing a program that meets your organization's needs.
Check out the following articles to find out how this functionality works in both programs:
However, if you're referring to something else, let me know in the comment section. This way, I can provide the most suitable explanation and solutions.

I'll be waiting for your response. I want to make sure this is taken care of. Keep safe, jntcasey.
THanks Michelle
I am not using a Mac but from what you shared it looks like the milage component in Quickbooks is only done as manual entries and the mobile app can enter automatically, but may still need to be transposed into the regular platform, so I don't need both.
