Electronic 1099-NEC have not been emailed to contractors

I filed 1099-NEC's using QB e-file service on January 26, 2022.  As of today, February 7th the electronic version of the 1099's have NOT been sent to the recipients AND when I have talked to Intuit QB Support (on the phone) I get no results.  My client does NOT use QB Payroll Services, except when we file the 1099-NECs

In the past years, the electronic versions have been sent almost immediately, so I do not understand what the issue is.  Also, printed versions that are mailed have not been received either as of Saturday, February 5th.

This is not the kind of service that I expect from Intuit and Quickbooks.  How do I find out what the issue is and correct it?  I have several contractors that are really annoyed that they have not received their 1099-NEC yet.

Electronic 1099-NEC have not been emailed to contractors

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, GolfNut72.

After you e-file your 1099s to the IRS, you'll receive email notifications of their statuses. You can also check your filing status manually.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Payroll tax screen.
  3. Click 1099 Filings.
  4. You'll be able to review their filing statuses in your Filing status section.
  5. Select View 1099 to view them as PDFs.

I've additionally included a list of each status and what they mean:

  • Submitted - You've electronically filed the form.
  • Not Submitted - You haven't e-filed Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC yet.
  • Received by IRS - The IRS received your form and is either processing it or has already processed and approved it.

As for contractors receiving copies of your 1099s, Intuit mails a printed copy to them when you file electronically. It's recommended that you file before January 27 at 5:00 PM PT to make sure the 1099s can be postmarked to your contractors by their due date of January 31.

I've also included a detailed resource about filing 1099s which may come in handy moving forward: Create & file 1099s

I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have an awesome day!

Electronic 1099-NEC have not been emailed to contractors

ZackE -

Thank you for the information but I was aware of where to check the filing status.  When I checked last week it showed submitted, and today it shows Accepted.  I did receive an email on Saturday that said the IRS had accepted our 1099 filing.

BUT, that does not resolve the issue at hand. I filed the 1099's with Intuit on January 26th (before the January 27th, 5:00 PM deadline).  In previous years, the contractors have received an email to a portal where they could download their 1099 AND received a copy of the 1099 about 1 week later.  As of this morning (February 7th), I was the only one who has received a1099 in the mail.  I haven't heard from all of the contractors but I have heard from about 6 from different parts of the country.  I have asked them to wait another day but it's been very annoying when the service promises email and mailed 1099's and doesn't deliver.  As an added note, I have asked everyone to check their spam folders just in case.

I have also been on 3 different calls to Intuit support regarding this issue, the first time, I hung up after talking with someone and then put on hold for over 20 minutes.  I called again last week and was told to wait until the "submitted" changed to "accepted".  And today I have been on the phone twice, at least the support person is trying to resolve this issue.
