I have quickbooks pro 2020 desktop. When I used to email a form, outlook would open ontop of quickbooks and I could send right there. Now, I must open outlook to find the email and send it. How do I get the old way back?
Thanks
Hi there, macc.
Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll ensure to share details on how Outlook works in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, troubleshooting steps so you'll be able to fix unexpected performance while using the software.
When starting to email a form using outlook in QuickBooks Dekstop, you'll need to know the necessary system requirements. This is to ensure your QuickBooks Desktop is compatible with the setup so you can begin emailing the sales form without any issues. Also, before you get started setting up your email service, make sure you’re using Outlook 2010 or newer and you have an Outlook email profile.
If the issue persists, I recommend running the Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities to get this sorted out. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues that might've caused unusual behavior like utilizing outlook when emailing a form. While the Rebuild Data utility repairs damaged data in your company file. Before this, you'll have to secure a backup copy of your company file.

Thanks for the suggestion. It did not work. Emailing works. It is just that after I click email within quickbooks, I then have to switch over to outlook to see the email. The email used to pop open right on top of my quickbooks. Thanks.
Hello @mistymossy,

Thanks for the suggestions. They did not work. I do not have Office 365. I am using windows 10 Office 2013. My build is the most update as of February 2022.
I appreciate the update and for getting back to us, @mistymossy. I'm here to share further insights as to how you can get the old way back when emailing forms using Outlook in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Based on QBDT's system requirements, your operating system (Windows 10) and the software you use to email forms (Office 2013) are all compatible with the system. Since the recommendations above didn't work, I'd recommend consulting with your IT guy to further check the cause of the issue.
To know more about sending transactions through Outlook, you can refer to this article: Connect your email to QuickBooks Desktop.
