Before this upgrade, if you created an invoice, the invoice would pull the employee name and insert it into the body of the invoice. It would insert it after the description of the charges (example: Consulting Services - Kim Smith). Now, I only get the following "Consulting Services -" (the employee name should be there after the dash and it's not. The dash *is there.) I have tried every instance in the Content Design. I have spent 52 minutes on a call with a QB rep; her system is also not pulling the employee name.
That's either a bug or part of the new and improved and modern design which removes many cumbersome features of the old invoices. Intuit is sure you don't need those features.
Has to be a bug. A) Product/Service code and the description of Product/Service code is all that will populate. So, for example, if you had only 'Sales' listed as your product/service code and you code all of that employee's time to Sales; this QB will create an invoice for you showing 'Sales' and the hours, rate and amount. It will not tell the customer who you are billing for. In my case, I have to now add the employee's name to all of the description boxes in my Product/Service codes. And all time that has already been entered, I now have to edit every single transaction line on the invoice so that it will pick up the name.
B) Under the gear icon, when you customize the invoice in Content, the option to select the employee name is still there. If they were completely removing the option, they would have removed it.
C) The employee name has always been inserted after the dash mark (ex: Sales - Kim Smith). The dash mark is still appearing on the invoices, just not the employee name (ex: Sales - )
OK, then yes it's yet another bug with the new, modern, beta-quality invoices that no one asked for.
I'm appalled with this fiasco. I'm pretty sure they just raised prices and now seeing this gigantic mess when everyone is insanely busy for year-end...where is the quality control before a rollout here?
Are you suggesting that releasing huge, destabilizing, beta-quality changes that strip features customers depend on and that no one asked for should be done at some other time than year-end - when business are really busy with increased sales during the holiday season and also trying to clean up and finalize their accounting, and also doing year-end tasks like payroll tax filings? I mean, really? Is there a better time of year?
Oh, I know, how about early April, right before taxes are due. Yea, that would be much better.
@LILLIDALLAS RE: where is the quality control before a rollout here?
It's rather evident based on the latest updates that Intuit doesn't test their software anymore before they release it. The long lists of bugs reported here just keeps growing - never mind the design errors such as removing a laundry-list of features from the new! and improved!! and modern!!! invoices.
Even the name, modern, is rather lacking. What, do you suppose, is a modern invoice anyway?
Ha! You make good points.
We appreciate you for raising your concern here, @LILLIDALLAS.
We see how the new feature has been challenging on your end, especially the beta features.
Upon checking on my end, there's no ongoing investigation about this issue. Taking this into consideration, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Online (QBO) chat or call support. They can help you navigate the root cause of the issue and find a fix.
Moreover, if they can see that a lot of users are experiencing the same issue, an investigation can be created. Once the fix is found, an update will be sent to your email.
Here's how to contact them:
For future reference, if you want to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms, you can read this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
Please come back here if you have additional QBO-related concerns. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Have a good one.
RE: Upon checking on my end, there's no ongoing investigation about this display issue.
A display issue is when the user interface doesn't render properly.
This is not a display issue. It's an issue in that QuickBooks isn't writing the correct data to the sales form, causing the customer to have to do a bunch of manual work they shouldn't have to do, if Intuit hadn't released buggy software to their customers.
Has there been any update on this?
I've had this same issue and have spent countless hours with QBO help and submitted feedback into the abyss many times with no response. I'm done with Quickbooks because of BS like this and will be looking for a replacement once we're through year end.
No updates from QBO - this has been an unacceptable product roll out.
Bryan, there needs to be an investigation into this issue immediately. I've spent hours with QuickBooks support and each time, they clearly see this is a software bug that is the fault of QBO. This needs to be resolved immediately.
Kurt, If you read the above, you would have seen I've already done this multiple times. For example, please refer to Case: [Removed]. Please provide a satisfactory response as this is not helpful in any way.
Kurt, Brian, do you have any update on this?
Hi there, @T Topp.
I acknowledge the importance of fixing the issue of being unable to see employee names on invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
We have now an ongoing investigation about customers being unable to see employee names on the invoices using the new invoice experience. Our engineering team is aware of the issue and it is in the process of being investigated. Since they are working on this internally, please know that we cannot provide a turnaround time regarding their efforts.
Moreover, to ensure you'll get an update about the resolution status, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. This way, they can add your company file to the list of affected users and provide this investigation number for easy tracking: INV-97162. To reach them, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague above.
Also, please don’t forget to take note of their support hours to contact them at the time of your convenience.
We appreciate your patience while we’re working on this one. Please know that the Community always has your back if you have additional questions about QuickBooks. I'll be right here to help.
