High Memory Usage - running slow

The past few weeks I have noticed that my browser (latest Firefox 64-bit) on Windows 11 uses 3-4 GB of RAM.  This causes entries in the various areas (accounts from banking for example) to run slow.

Is there a fix for this?

High Memory Usage - running slow

Hi Terry!

Thank you for providing detailed information about your browser’s status and performance. We appreciate your effort in ensuring your browser is up-to-date for optimal usage.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) aims for frequently accessed pages to load within 10 seconds and actively monitors its systems to maintain this benchmark. However, QBO’s performance depends not only on web connectivity but also on your device’s processing power, available memory (RAM), and internet bandwidth. Any limitations in these areas can affect its functionality. Please ensure your system meets the minimum requirements to avoid performance issues.

With that said, I recommend clearing your browser cache, which temporarily stores files to speed up website loading. However, outdated cache files can cause problems over time.

Here’s how to clear it in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Select the Menu (☰) icon.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Go to Privacy & Security.
  4. Under Cookies and Site Data, select Manage Data.
  5. Type "Intuit" in the search bar and press Enter to locate Intuit cookies.
  6. Select Remove All Shown.
  7. Click Save Changes.
  8. Restart Mozilla Firefox to apply the changes.

Alternatively, we recommend using Google Chrome for QuickBooks Online, as it offers better compatibility and performance. You can also test your internet speed using the Google Speed Test and review the results assess whether bandwidth issues could be contributing to slower performance.

High Memory Usage - running slow

In Firefox 124.0.1 64-bit I cleared the browser cache for intuit which included: 226 Cookies and 1.1 MB Storage

My speed is:

654 Mbps Download
43 Mbps Upload

Loading QB with nothing else is using 2 GB.

High Memory Usage - running slow

Thanks for your update, Terry.

We appreciate you working through the issue with us. Clearing the cache is typically the first step in resolving performance-related concerns. Since QuickBooks Online (QBO) is still using approximately 2 GB of memory even after clearing the cache, let's perform a few more troubleshooting steps to identify what's causing this.

Have you tried accessing QBO using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers? Checking other browsers can help determine whether the memory usage issue is specific to Firefox or occurs across multiple browsers.

If QBO performs better on Chrome or Edge, you can consider consulting with an IT professional to examine the configurations in your Firefox browser. An IT expert can help optimize your browser settings and ensure they align with QBO’s system requirements.

However, if QBO continues to consume around 2 GB of RAM, or possibly more across multiple browsers and experience slow performance consistently, this could indicate a broader issue. I recommend contacting our Live Support team. They have the specialized tools and resources to look into this further and provide real-time solutions tailored to your specific situation.

Let us know how the troubleshooting goes, and feel free to add in the comments if you have other questions, and we're here assist.
