I don't run payroll, I have QB desktop pro 2021 and I am being told I need to now purchase the software. Can I still run this version without a subscription? I use this for my personal finances as well as 7 clients.
Login to your CAMPS and check the license status. If you have QB Desktop 2021 with a non subscription license, you can use it for good. You will need a workaround to import transactions from banks after May 2024.
Thank you for the quick response, correct, I do not have a paid subscription. They are making it sound that I MUST PURCHASE a subscription or I will no longer have access to QB. You are saying I will no longer be able to download the bank FROM QB, will I be able to do it from my bank and import into QB?
You can download .qbo files from your bank BUT you can't import directly into your QB Desktop. If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into QB Desktop. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license from a partner.

Another option, you can contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and they can share another option to keep using the bank feed feature with QB Desktop with a non subscription license.
I work for a small grading company and have been using Quickbooks desktop for 20 years now. Everyone that I know using the online version says its terrible. I want to use desktop and if they are not giving me a option then i need to find another solution. Can anybody tell me what you have found out.
Thanks Tracie
I run Quick Books Pro 2021 but I do use the payroll. I also need to find something else if Intuit is making me to to online. I haven't heard anything positive from people who are currently using it.
Intuit still sells Pro and Premier 2024, though not at retail. They will sell it until July this year, and then support it for several more years, including for payroll.
So, at least for the next several years you can avoid QuickBooks Online, which is a very good thing.
Also, they have said they will continue to version and sell Enterprise even after this year, and it is also a much, much better solution than Online.
Sorry I just saw your reply. Yes I do need to run payroll on one version out of the four I need to upgrade.
you can use this website quickbook24.shop is very good
you can use this website [removed by moderator] is very good.
Same here , since 95 or 96 quickbooks , then pro etc.. I wish someone had another software i could transfer over... quickbooks are a bunch of money grabbers that care nothing about the people that have been with them for 25 plus years...

They do not sell legit licenses. As of QB Desktop 2022, Intuit does not offer non-subscription licensing. I believe you can't create new company files or reset the Admin password easily.
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
The 1st option sounds perfect to me,
1. QB Desktop 2024 Pro/Premier Plus + QB Desktop Enhanced Payroll ($600 / year + $60/employee/year)
Is this info accurate? The customer service agent claimed the desktop version would be more expensive than the online version.
Hi there, @acscii.
I appreciate the info you shared. Let me provide the correct pricing info about the new annual price of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro Plus and Premier Plus 2024.
The price info you shared is accurate. However, it might be the old pricing of QBDT. You can check the screenshot below for a comparison of the current and new annual prices:
Also, below is the info on the updated QBDT Payroll current and new prices based on their subscription:
These price changes took effect last Oct. 1, 2023. You can get more info by reading this article: QuickBooks Desktop Price Change + FAQs.
Furthermore, you can reach out to the QBDT Sales team for a better understanding of the new pricing of QBDT Pro and Premier.

How many employee do you need to manage their payroll?
Thanks for your reply.
I understand QuickBooks wishes to move everyone online but, in my case, I don't have time to migrate the system from the desktop to online. The user interface (UI) between those two are so different that it could be a very time consuming process to learn it and teach my people to use it.
I might just spend more money on the desktop version for the first year and see what happens from there.
Thanks again for your reply. It helped.
I use my desktop QB for (2) companies, one is my own company which has only (1) payroll. The other one is a joint venture company which has one employee plus myself so (2) payrolls.
So you can see, in my case, it's probably makes more sense to buy a 3rd party payroll and manually record it in QuickBooks.
You may have 2 options:
1. QB Desktop 2021 + a stand alone payroll app. You will register payroll expenses as JE in QB Desktop.
2. QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus/Premier Plus + Enhanced Payroll. You can purchase the license thru a partner and get $100 cashback. Intuit will support QB Desktop 2024 until 2027.
Is this a joke?!? Try calling that number.
I'm interested in getting QBDT 2024. I just got off a chat with QB and after asking for DT 2024 was only offered QB online and QB desktop which was an even higher monthly fee and required internet (which made no sense) How do I get the actual 2024 desktop only version?
How do I get QB Desktop Pro 2024?
