We can change the default period, harlandgd.

The Dashboard or Performance Centre will default to the last date range you've set before moving to other pages or logging out.

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Dashboard page.
  3. Change the date range or period you want to set.
  4. Log out to QBO and log back in.

The date or period you set will be the new default. Here's a link to know more about it: An introduction to the home dashboard.

Feel free to get back to us if you have additional questions. Have a great day!

How can I view cumulative charts in the performance centre, rather than just values month by month?

Hi James

Changing the date range still shows me, eg, net profit per month, in the performance report section.

I am looking for cumulative charts, so that I can see exactly when I increased profit in 2020 to exceed profit for 2019. The current charts just compare each month which does not provide me with the information I am looking for. Does QBO have a cumulative chart option that I have failed to find, or does it not exist as a feature (yet!)?

Hello there, harlandgd.

If you're referring to the Cash Flow chart on the Dashboard, yes, you're right that we can only sort months within this year. I can see the importance of changing the date range that helps you compare your profit to the other year. You can visit our blog website from time to time, so you'll be informed of our latest news and updates, including product improvements.

Also, you may want to run the Profit and Loss report to compare the data from the previous year to the current one. Go to Reports on the left panel and enter the Profit and Loss report in the search field.

You can use the articles below where you can get additional details on how to customize a report.  Then, save what you have currently changed.

Comment below if there's anything you need. I'll be around to help in any way that I can. Take care always.

Really?  No cumulative cash flow dashboard?  Mint has that for personal finances, why not add it here?

I suggest quickbooks add both a cumulative cashflow dashboard and a growth rate dashboard, these are key metrics for business owners.

Nice to have you joined this thread, @JimBo Ha.

I appreciate you for sharing your thoughts and ideas about having a cumulative cash flow dashboard. Rest assured, I'll let our Product Developer team know about this so they'll consider adding this in our future updates.

There are always working on improving QuickBooks to help our users seamlessly run their business. In the meantime, you can look for a third-party app that lets you run a cumulative cash flow dashboard. You can go to the Apps menu in your account or visit our QuickBooks App Store for reference.

You can also submit feedback so our Product Developer team can have a look and review it. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Select Feedback2.PNG
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

You can also see this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

Additionally, you might want to visit our QuickBooks Blog page to stay updated on the latest news and updates about QuickBooks.

I'm also adding this article that can guide you in reconciling your accounts efficiently: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know in your reply if you have other questions about managing your QBO account. I'll be around to back you. Have a great week ahead!
