How do I add a printer to my existing QB Enterprise from at another location?

Welcome to the Community, LC1955.

 

As long as your printer is connected to the computer you're using QuickBooks on, you can select it from your Printer Setup screen.

 

Here's how:
 

  1. In the top menu bar, go to File, then Printer Setup.
  2. Choose which form you want to print.
  3. Select a printer. Make sure your printer name matches the exact name of the printer you want to use. If it doesn't, you'll need to correct your setup in the computer's Printer Setup.

How do I add a printer to my existing QB Enterprise from at another location?

Regarding the printer issue, my problem is that my printer is hooked up to my computer that I am working on remotely, but it does not show up when I go to print.  I have tried several things to set it up to use my printer with my QB Enterprise, but it will not pick up my connected printer.   It will not show anywhere even though I am printing from it for other things.

Still not sure how to resolve.

The problem is that I have my printer set up to my computer that I am working from remotely, but the only printers that appear on QB are the ones that are in my office.  I have tried various things to set up the printer that is hooked up to my computer, but it didn't show up, even though I am printing from it for other things.

I understand the importance of resolving this issue promptly so that you can successfully print the necessary data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). To help you overcome this issue, make sure that you set the printer as the default on your computer. Here's how:
 

  1. From the Start button, select Settings (or Control Panel) > Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right-click on a working printer from the Printers and Faxes dialog window.
  3. Select Set as Default Printer. Close the Windows Printer and Faxes window.
  4. Open QuickBooks and open the Printer Setup window to verify changes. Note: If you are unable to reset the default printer, right-click the printer name and delete it.

Also, verify that the printer is online and connected to your computer. Check the printer's status and ensure it is powered on, connected to the network, and not displaying any error messages. Here's how:
 

  1. Turn off the printer, restart your computer, and then turn the printer back on.
  2. Make sure you load the printer paper correctly.
  3. Select Start, choose Control Panel, then double-click Printers and Faxes.
  4. If the printer shows Offline, right-click the printer and select Use Printer Online.
  5. Double-click the printer and if there are print jobs displayed in the queue, select Printer, then Cancel All Documents.
  6. Close the window.
  7. Right-click the printer, select Properties, and then click Print Test Page.

How do I add a printer to my existing QB Enterprise from at another location?

I was able to get it to show up and print from my laptop QB, but still not on my desktop!  This seems odd, but that is the situation at this time.  I will try a few more things, but not sure why it will show up in my laptop on QB but not on Desktop!

Still working on that issue, but glad I can at least print QB reports from my laptop.
