How do i change the ship to address in the new invoice format? That use to be editable on screen. Now you need to go into the saved customer, edit it there, but then it is saved for the next time you create an invoice for them. I only want their billing address to stay the same. I do service work for the same contractors over many different locations and sales tax is based upon the location of service. So the ship to address needs to be changed all the time for the same contractors. This was so easy in the old format and now seemingly not possible?
Welcome back to the Community, @AlpineApp.
We appreciate you for sharing your experience on the new layout of the invoice. Being able to edit the shipping address directly on the invoice page would allow work to be completed more easily and efficiently.
Regarding the recent updates of QuickBooks Online (QBO), this feature is currently unavailable. I suggest you send feedback directly to our Product Engineers. They're responsible for adding features in the future.

The only workaround we can do right now is to manually change the shipping address of the customer. Additionally, if you have the "switch to old layout" option available, you can simply click on that to continue making your invoice in the old layout.
Here's an article that will give you more details on how to add a customer's shipping address to invoices: Add a customer’s shipping address to invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I would love to switch back to the old format but i do not have that option. I received an email multiple times saying that the change to the new format would happen Oct 6th, like it or not and we wouldn't be able to go back to the old format anymore. But i keep seeing it mentioned that we could "go back" to the old. I just don't see where that's possible. and if it is, why is it possible for some but not all?
@JanbonN RE: Being able to edit the shipping address directly on the invoice page would allow work to be completed more easily and efficiently.
Correct. Like QuickBooks Desktop, for the last 25 years, where this is easy to do, and where multiple ship to addresses per customer are also supported - because it's useful. And easy. And efficient.
So why is it not possible with QuickBooks Online?
Thanks for getting back with the Community, AlpineApp.
If your account has an ability to switch to the old invoice format, you can do so from your invoice creation screen.
Here's how:
In the event you don't see an option to change invoice layouts, you won't be able to switch to our previous format. I can certainly understand how an ability to do so could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feedback while signed in. Detailed steps for doing so can be found in JanbonN's post.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with invoices which may come in handy moving forward: See what’s new with invoices
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I agree 1000%.
This is an awful update and makes things so much more complicated. Fix it quickbooks!!!!
I do not understand why QBO has to keep changing items that work fine. Then when they update you loose capabilities. (ie the new REPORTS are horrible to use) I use Subtotals on almost every invoice, and progress billing, so does this mean it will let me stay in the OLD version? if so for how long? or do I have to make template with Subtotals to ensure I can do it going forward. Or will I have to copy an old invoice to keep subtotals.
Please stop updating and fix the things that need to be fixed. Like a capability to do credit memos based off of an original invoice, simply click what has to be returned, rather then having to type everything all over again.
Note: Some customers won't be able to opt-in to the new experience if they're using features listed as unsupported.
