How do I run a Budget vs Class report with columns for Monthly Actuals, monthly budget, YTD Actuals and YTD Budget AND a column with the Annual Budget?

Hello there, @Carmbkpr.

You can generate the data of budget vs. class with the specified columns in the Financial Planning section from the Reports tab.

It is also worth noting that there's no specific report in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced entitled 'Budget vs. Class'. However, we can generate the data you want by running the Budget vs. Actuals report.

Once we generate the report, we'll need to Switch to classic view, as certain columns are only available in this display.

Here's how:

  1. In the left navigation, point your cursor at the Reports icon.
  2. Select the Financial Planning option and proceed to Budget.

  3. Find the financial year you want to generate a budget vs class data. Then, click the Run Budget vs. Actuals report option.

  4. Once you view the report page, hover your mouse over the upper tab and click Switch to classic view.

  5. Go to the Customize section in the right side.
  6. Pick a Show Grid option below the Rows/Columns section. Choose these columns based on what you want to view:
    - Classes vs. Months (Monthly actual and budget)
    - Classes vs. Total (Customizable date. You can select the This Year-to-date option in the Report Period
    section)

  7. Uncheck the Period Comparison section to ensure that only the Actual and Budget columns will show in the report.
  8. After that, move to the Filter section. Then, tick the Class option.
  9. Once done, click Run report.

These are the results based on the my suggested customization of the report:

  • Monthly Actual Vs Budget report by class result:

  • Year-To-Date Actual Vs Budget report by class result:
