How do I update the email address for a contractor? That field is grayed out in personal details.

Hi, Spence.

 

Once a contractor is invited to fill out their W-9 information directly in QuickBooks, their profile shows as Requested until they complete the form.

 

While it’s in this status, you can’t edit their personal details (email, name, city, or state) because QuickBooks is waiting for the contractor to provide that information themselves.

 

If you want the contractor to enter their own details, leave it as is and wait for them to complete the W-9 request.

 

If you need to enter/edit their information yourself, you’ll need to cancel or withdraw the W-9 request, then manually edit their vendor's profile.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Open the vendor profile.
  2. Click the Requested status next to the vendor's name and look for the option to Cancel W-9 request.
  3. After that, QuickBooks will let you manually enter the personal and other vendor details.
  4. Then tick the Track payments for 1099 option to add them as your contractor.
