I've done every step in the article multiple times. I can get it to work 2 or 3 times then it fails again. If I keep trying, I get an out of memory error and quickbooks closes down. I have Quickbooks enterprise 23. I've tried in single user and multi user mode. The only way I got it to work is setting my email up as webmail. The problem with that is it does not save a copy in my sent items. I can't get thunderbird to work. I've repaired Microsoft 365 and uninstalled and re-installed, ran tool hub, rebooted, uninstalled and re-installed quickbooks and updated. Ran all windows updates. It's on Windows 11. It used to work fine about 2 weeks ago. I am assuming it is some sort of update but I rolled back and still didn't fix it. Fixmapi.exe seems to do nothing. I renamed mapi32.dll to no effect. Frustrating to say the least.
Thanks for posting here, @hollettster.
I appreciate you performing steps to fix your Outlook so that you can send Emails. Let me share info about the Outlook messaging issue and a workaround. Then, route you to where you can acquire updates.
At the moment, there's an ongoing investigation (INV-99921) about "QuickBooks Desktop is unable to send your emails to Outlook." An issue has been identified with the early preview builds of Office 365 version 2402 build 17328.20068, and later.
If you're part of the Microsoft Insider program and set up to get early access to Office 365 updates, you have access to builds of Outlook that are being tested, not final, and could cause issues with third-party programs such as QuickBooks.
To resolve this issue immediately, we suggest asking an IT professional for help on how to get the latest current public release of Office 365 version 2401 build 17231.20236. To find your build number, open Outlook, select File, Office account, and About Outlook.
The other possible workaround to this issue is to set QuickBooks to do the emailing instead of Outlook. If you know your email provider's server settings, set it up using the webmail preference. Or you can save your invoice or report to PDF and then manually create an email in Outlook and send it without using QuickBooks.
On top of that, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) support to add you as one of the affected users. So that you'll be notified once updates are available via Email. Here's how:
If you want to learn how to sync your QuickBooks customers, jobs, and vendors with your Outlook contacts, you can read this article: Sync Outlook contacts with QuickBooks Desktop.
Leave a comment below if you have additional questions about Outlook in QBDT. I'll be willing to help. Have a good day.
I checked the version and it says Current channel but my version is 2402 17328.20108 and no other newer updates. Not sure how to "downgrade". I'm not a member of the insider program. Asks if I want to signup...
Thank you for your prompt response and for following the information shared by my colleague above, @hollettster.
As mentioned above, asking for an IT professional's help is the best way to approach this until the investigation is resolved.
After contacting our support team and adding you to the list of affected users, you will receive email updates while our engineers work to fix the problem. We appreciate your patience during this time.
For now, please follow the workaround of exporting the data and sending it using email providers outside the program.
Additionally, I'm sharing this article again about syncing your QuickBooks customers, jobs, and vendors with your Outlook contacts: Sync Outlook contacts with QuickBooks Desktop.

I am also on the current release and am waiting on a hot fix but I am not sure why this was not mentioned as an option but you can send payment links to customers inside of QuickBooks. I am sending a PDF of the invoices with a note that payment link will be following and I am sending the link separately. It is a pain to do but I am not sending the emails via a personal account which was the suggestion when I reached out to support.
I'm having the same issue. I tried all the fixes suggested from the support website, but nothing worked. I can get one email out or a small list of invoices from the send forms queue, but then the error pops up again. I've contacted tech support and gotten on the list to be notified when there's a fix ready.
Yep.. when you pay this much for software and they keep going up on the price and can't make sure it works.. it's just not right. Mine was working fine and boom, stopped working. I can't get webmail to even work. Very annoying. Manually saving PDF's and doing it that way is stupid. Fix your software!
I followed this and working for now...
Same issue. Spent 4+ hours taking all the steps to uninstall, reinstall, roll back etc. to no benefit. This is not a 'me' problem. This is clearly a software issue. I should not have to engage an IT professional to fix a problem that is not MY problem. I just paid my invoice for my annual subscription and it enrages me that the software doesn't work as advertised. I use 30% of the features of Quickbooks, at most, and the simplest tasks of sending invoices and estimates requires jumping through fiery hoops. FIX YOUR STUFF QB!!!!!
I followed the link below and it fixed the issue.
