How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

What???? This is kind of what I mean about significant issues that are really surprising about Intuit.  I have no idea how that answer came from my previous post.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I'm using Quickbooks 2020 for Mac and there is no "Preferences" option under the menu "Edit" as posted earlier in this thread.  What is the procedure to stop Intuit from asking me to log in each time I open the file.

I do NOT use any integrated services offered by Intuit, and I strongly prefer not having to sign in prior to using the software.

I'm a CPA and I'm going to consider alternatives to Quickbooks and my recommendations to clients will follow.  I'm very frustrated by Intuit's growing intrusion into how its customers use its product.

Perhaps this will work for you.

In addition to stopping ads and crashes, it seems like QuickBooks has stopped asking us to log into our intuit account, or our clients accounts, when using their files on our systems.

This might help. It seems to have stopped QuickBooks from asking us to log into our client's Intuit accounts when using their files on our systems:

It seemed to me that the QB team response you got did not directly deal with your issue?  I will be fascinated to see if you get any sort of response.  and btw, I have used the feedback online feature, and have NEVER gotten a response.  I'm sure the queue is VERY long, with so many people using QB and having issues with 1, the stupid popup asking for signin, and the removal of the ability to upload bank feeds.  I don't know if this will help, but until they remove it, you can rightclick on the popup and choose close.

That's exactly what you said back in 2020.....I just read it.  It's unbelievable that this is still an issue.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I've been following this thread for nearly two years now. It's been frustrating that Intuit has [quietly] refused to solve the problem the way we'd like, and it has been absolutely surreal how many times an Intuit support person has jumped in to "help", clearly without having paid any attention to our descriptions of the issue, giving us obvious-nonsense boilerplate that logging in gives us better security, etc.

Let's think through parts of that again:
1. They appear to have picked up on just a few key words in our "questions", and not comprehended the rest.
2. They responded with pre-written but unhelpful boilerplate which couldn't possibly help because it was chosen with no comprehension of the problem we described.

We've been talking to bots all this time!

I recall a few responses which appeared to involve actual humans, but those have been exceptions and not the rule.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

.One data point other users might benefit from:

I recently had to move to a new PC. Had been using the no-longer-supported QB Desktop 2019, so was concerned whether I'd be able to move that to the new PC too.

I had bought that copy of QB from Amazon in 2019, and Amazon still had the original download available to me in my Orders history. That is, I didn't have to purchase it again, just re-download the original purchase and keep the same key.

I ran the installation, being careful not to accept any updates at all. It seems to be running just fine now, despite a one-time warning that my company file had been edited in a later version of QB. There are no prompts to log in! I can't use the Bank feeds any more (because 2019 is unsupported), but can limp along without that until I wind the company down and retire in a few years.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I was recently forced to agree to let Intuit and their affiliates run a credit check on me whenever they desire in order to open the 2022 Accountant version.  It was agree or lose all my clients' data.  Backups won't even help me at this point.  After using QB for 20 years, I now despise this company.  Next time I log in I'm expecting to have to pay $750 to renew my "subscription" to software I thought I owned.

Intuit's invasion of the privacy of desktop users is akin to the conduct of Facebook that resulted in involvement of the Federal Trade Commission.  Perhaps if enough of us filed a complaint with the FTC, something might be done.  Complaints can be filed here:  https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/assistant.  That Intuit purports that the sign in requirement is for our own protection when, in fact, it creates more security risk can, arguably, be considered a form of fraud.  Some may also have the option of sounding off with their respective state Attorney General offices.

I might be able to understand that for the cloud-based software but we have the desktop version and it also requires linking to an Intuit account.  It it unnecessary, cumbersome, invasive, and is the reason I am online  today searching for competitive products.

Strengthen security by opening a connection to Intuit rather than keeping the software limited to my desktop computer?   My 75-year old mother wouldn't even buy that one.  This is a security risk; not an enhancement and I for one am furious and starting to research competitors.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

I tried this approach.  However, I received the same request to log into the company Intuit account when following the steps in QB Bank Feeds - Add an account: for Bank of America Account.  And my company will not allow Intuit to have access to our desktop QB.  Help!!!!

Not sure what approach you are referring to, but to use connected services like bank feeds, I think you do need to log in. If so, there's no way around it.

However, doing so likely doesn't give Intuit any more access to your file than bank feeds does, which also goes through Intuit servers.

Welcome to QuickBooks Community.

I'd love to help you with your concern, but may I know what are you trying to achieve about using the QuickBooks? I would appreciate any details about that dialog box that you can share to help me better understand your concern and provide an accurate solution.

In the meantime, you'll want to check out our Help Articles to help you with the tasks and tips when using QBO.

Looking for your response. Have a wonderful day.

Yet another lame response. Only correct response would be how to turn it OFF PERMANENTLY.

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

When our bookkeeper tries to link a Bank of America Credit Card in Bank Feeds, she is required to log in the company Intuit Account.  Why is this required for B of A and Discover and none of the other QBDT listed banks?  She does not have access to the company Intuit Account?  We understand this is not an issue on QB On Line because to use On Line you are already logged in.  We specifically have QB DT to keep our critical information away from Intuit.  Can she be given a company Intuit log on for just this purpose?

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Hello there, trevecpa. I'll make sure you'll get the details you need right now.

Yes, the system will require the user to log in to your company Intuit Account if they don't have admin user access. Once they try to connect a bank account within your company file, they need to enter a company Intuit Account.

And, yes, an accountant doesn't have access to your company Intuit Account. They can access some areas of your QuickBooks to help you keep your data accurate from time to time. But, they don't have access to your sensitive customer data, such as credit card numbers and login credentials.

Since company log-on is vital information and private details, you may consider trying to link the Bank of America Credit Card in Bank Feeds on your end. Or, invite them within your company file and give them full access to your QuickBooks. We can use this link for further guidance: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

I see how convenient it would be to let our accountant link our bank account without requiring them to access the company Intuit Account. QuickBooks depends on the bank's method and what details are needed to enter to sync successfully. Still, we can send your suggestion to our Product Development Team to evaluate this idea and might do something to get this done. To do this, we can go to Help within your company file and select Send Feedback Online.

Also, we can visit these articles to learn about managing users in QuickBooks:

How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

You need to thoroughly read this thread.  We are small businesses that use desktop QB.  We either don't want to pay the predatory subscription fees to use QBO, or we just don't want our data shared with intuit. We want to open up our desktops, click on QB and start using it. When we open QB, we are hit with a dialog box, that tries to force us to sign in online. We have found workarounds, BUT:

We are asking that we not be asked to sign into Intuit PERMANENTLY, EVER AGAIN.

I'm realizing that this is just actually what Intuit wants, I don't think they want to change this.  They just assume people will keep using it and so 'who cares'.

But when the web connect stops working every 15 days because we need to get on the main QB server and login or bypass the popup, then I think it is just BROKEN.  It's not very usable since the entire web connect just fails waiting for someone to address that popup.  So it is more than inconvenient, it is a real hassle for our customers.

Trying to get through this moderator is like trying to rationalize with a brick wall.  I suggest that everyone send feedback to Intuit via its feedback page:  (https://quickbooks.intuit.com/commerce/common/fragments/feedback.jsp.

Perhaps, if the powers that be realize that there may be mass exodus of QB users if this "feature" is not disabled, they may actually do something about it.
