I needed to reinstall my Quickbooks Premiere 2021 on a new computer yesterday... no available download on QB site :-( But, I luckily saved my original download!
And, I came to the newer login enforcement and Active-X script. Again, local file, local account, no payroll or bank. Absolutely no need for the Intuit nanny to have me log in to them and risk my safe data login.
Fortunately the advance firewall block of outgoing TCP port 443 on QB32.exe still works for now.
There NEEDS to be a way for desktop users to work offline from Intuit servers. Please listen Intuit. This thread is over a year old and all you seem to do is avoid the issue at heart.
/Mike
Exactly the problem I am having. I just want to use my program without BIG BROTHER poking around in it. I have a desktop because that is all I want!!. I don't intend to use any of the added features $$$$$ that Intuit is pushing. Let me have my privacy and do my work without an hour delay each week!Q!!
RE: Add a NEW layer of nightmare! My client has direct deposit. They HAD to login as the CONTACT person ONLY, NOT the admin, to update information (NOTHING NEEDED CHANGING) or their direct deposit would be suspended! The contact person was a secretary who is deceased because she retired not long after we set them up on QuickBooks back in late 1999!!!
Yes, this is exactly the type of issue this new requirement creates. This over-simplistic view of how companies function creates emergencies. Why, for example, would Intuit think that the contact for a company would stay the same for 22 years? Why insist on the contact? Why make you jump through hoops to comply with their rigid requirements?
Also, insisting on the driver's license for a contact that is no longer the contact - who is gone (in your case gone from this earth) - makes no sense under the sun.
Really Intuit, it's more important to make the customer log into your customer tracking system than it is for them to make their payroll? That's nuts. Nothing should get in the way of a customer sending DD orders - except if they forget their PIN. Nobody thought this through clearly.
Dear Intuit -
We are not upset because you decided to change your business model and software.
No, we are mad because we showed up to work one day and you forced us to change the processes that we use to run our businesses. You never asked us. You never gave us the ability to opt out. Instead, a giant faceless corporation demanded that the peasants will need to change the way they operate, and that's just the way it is. Take it or leave it.
It doesn't matter if we already paid for the software in full. No. Intuit has decided that they can change the software any time they want, even after you've paid for it and setup all your business processes around that software.
Intuit knows best of course. It's for the Internet security. It's for your own good. Think of the children! Think of the hackers!
Thank you, Intuit, oh wise overlord, for telling us how to run our business. We appreciate your wise counsel.
A less wise corporation may have been concerned about engendering an extraordinary amount of ill will amongst it's most loyal customers. But not not Intuit. No, Intuit has done the right and the brave thing. To heck with the customers. They don't know what they want anyway. What those customers REALLY REALLY need is cloud software!! They just don't know it yet. The sooner they figure it out, the better!
So, again, thank you, oh wise band of corporate middle management, for being brave and doing what is best (for you).
NO Quickbooks - NO INTUIT!
First of all:
The average person has about 100 passwords so of course it makes sense that at some point you’re going to need to manage it. Whether it’s resetting your password, or other login help, QuickBooks Desktop users this article is for you!
Lets start with the very first sentence - worst grammar ever. The average person has about 100 passwords so of course it makes sense that at some point you’re going to need to manage it.
Moving on...
I think the best place to start is with an explanation of the new QuickBooks Desktop login experience. We’re now connecting your Intuit login to Desktop to give you better security and a single user ID to access all of Intuit’s products.
Let's stop here for a moment - IF that was a need then yes having an intuit account would make sense.
Think of it like the passcode to your phone, which then gives you access to all your apps and information.
I do not treat my desktop like my phone - THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT A DESKTOP VERSION!
"With One Intuit Account you have one login that gets you into all of your accounts without having to create multiple. "
STOP STOP STOP! NO NO NO!
BECAUSE - I might have MULTIPLE QB files I need to access - Like one at a location I help out at - they want me to log in and do data entry plus my own company...
I DO NOT WANT THOSE ENTITIES CO-MINGLED - EVER! SOooooo I now have to create a NEW profile for every instance of QUICKBOOKS I use? WHAT? How does that simplify or make things safere?
THIS one.... make me bang my head on the keyboard:
As you can see, there are more requirements for your login password, but that’s because that’s the first gateway to protecting your information.
OK - what about removing deceased or fired users?
HOW is it safe that INTUIT has a hold on THAT bit of MY company information and security and I cannot manage it?
Do you realize what you see if you follow the suggestion to visit "our QuickBooks Firm of the Future blog to know about the latest news and updates from QuickBooks Desktop."
NOTHING ABOUT DESKTOP
.02 more on this.
I have a 90 year old customer trying to maintain LOCAL accounts which he has maintained for decades. These accounts have NO PAYROLL and NO ADDITIONAL SERVICES, but Intuit is working hard to make his job virtually impossible.
In just the last two years:
1) He was forced to upgrade to a more recent version because his client did (fine, client may have had reasons, but it's also likely Intuit forced the upgrade by disabling something).
2) When creating files with the new version, he was suddenly and without reason REQUIRED to set a password for a new company file which ONLY HE WOULD EVER access on ONE LOCAL PC.
3) Another year later, he goes back to open files he created the previous year and suddenly Intuit REQUIRES not only the password he didn't want, but now he must login to an online account . . . TO ACCESS A LOCAL FILE which uses NO additional services!
This 90 year old man used to simply double-click to open a client's company file. Now he must perform two additional AND POINTLESS steps to do exactly the same work.
4) Worse yet, the additional steps don't even work. When logging in, Intuit has thus far forced him to to get a code by email . . . and again by phone EVERY TIME. He never asked for 2FA. Why is Intuit requiring 3FA? (answer: cheap offshore developers only know specs, they don't know how to write good code).
As so many others have said, adding all these additional steps provides ZERO SECURITY VALUE to a desktop user. What Intuit has done is make sure this super nice 90 man has multiple IRRELEVANT and USELESS tasks he must complete before opening a LOCAL FILE with Quickbooks DESKTOP.
Want to guess what my advice is to a thousand or so other tech support clients? Don't dare upgrade Quickbooks unless you have no other option. INTUIT DOESN'T CARE. This thread being either ignored or misunderstood by Intuit is proof.
I also am looking for a less invasive product that allows me to set when and even if the developer makes contact with the software I OWN and MY DATA. I am almost ready to go back to my EXCEL G/L I designed 30 years ago. Intuit has NO right to track when I log into any of my financials, nor the right to withdraw the ability to turn off the update monitoring. I almost want to subpoena them for proof that they have not uploaded my many company files without my knowledge.
Yes, I have tried disabling the Monitoring Service PID, this only breaks other modules and crashes QB. They are FORCING customers that have purchased this software outright to comply. Anyone up for a class action suit?
Please DO pass on our comments to the "powers that be". There is ZERO reason for Intuit to be sticking their nose into our personal financial business, period. I will be looking for another financial software provider if this doesn't get changed soon. I really hate all of the BS that you listed re how you're "protecting" us from ourselves. We are grown-up and business owners and we don't need YOUR help.
Furthermore, this is a total PITA because (and this just happened to me when using Quicken), if you require us to log into Intuit, if we don't have internet for some reason, we can no longer work offline - and all so you can get our financial info and snoop??? There's a reason that we opted for DESKTOP and not your online version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You MUST add an option to opt out, period. The ONLY reason you're not offering that is because you are NOT adding this FEATURE for our protection i.e. you're lying!
What FTC case? Would you please send it to me? [email address removed]
This fix worked for me
Data issues are one of the reasons why you encountered this. You can utilize the Verify Rebuild Data tool in QuickBooks Desktop to resolve it.
Here’s how:
Same here! 20+ years of QB DESKTOP (never online), and TurboTax - looking for alts now!
YES! THIS.....thank you. This is a data grab by Inuit and it should be illegal to FORCE a paying customer to relinquish access!
YES.
Agree with all of this - written reviews and advised against purchasing QB EVERYWHERE I can find to do so.
Desktop user only - NO added services, NO online support/apps/anything. Still REQUIRED to create/login to an Intuit account. It's becoming a real problem as I have multiple businesses (only one mine) for which I do accounting - NONE of them should be associated with MY account, but unless I want to create a separate Intuit account for each (surprise! I don't want even ONE), that's what will happen.
I don't think more negative feedback is necessary, but you asked.
Get rid of the Inuit account Sign-in requirement. NOW. It's an invasion of my privacy, and that of the companies for whom I do accounting. It needs to be disabled, and an OPT-OUT option given.
It is HATEFUL.
QuickBooks Pro Accountant user with multiple companies:
With the desktop, you don't have to have the internet.
This is another way to track you. Turn off the requirement!! If I had known the update would do this, I would have never updated. I have tons of companies that use QBs 2017 - 2021. How is this going to affect them all. 90% of my clients are older and do not use apps for anything.
Am I going to have to log into each and everyone every time?? I am the only one with access, why in the heck would I need this feature??? I saw the person who posted a fix by turning off the pop-up messages; news flash, mine is turned off.
I totally agree that this is invasive. I am sure signing into all of these companies would go totally wrong with this soft ware.
There is no sense in calling Intuit. What a joke. Once I heard the rooster crowing in the back ground, I realized I was just wasting my time.
If there is a way to turn this off please response to this post.
I found this workaround interesting but will not work in the corporate environment that I manage. We use QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop for a reason - we are an enterprise.
As the IT manager, I maintain upwards of 150 different company files that are accessed by a dozen different accountants. I have a local admin account (password protected) for each of those files in addition to individual user accounts with assigned passwords. We do not use QuickBooks payroll, bill pay, or other services that are accessed online. Additionally, I have a custom application (which requires the use of the Integrated Applications feature) that exports data from a SQL database into approximately 50 different QB files every evening.
The company files are stored on two different servers that users access over the network. I am unable to use the Windows Defender Firewall workaround for the primary reason that I disable the Windows Defender Firewall on all of my systems. I have two very expensive hardware firewalls and I don't need software firewalls causing me grief.
It was bad enough when the annoying, intrusive, unnecessary "Login to your Intuit Account" popup broke my custom application. But when I tried to add new users with Full Access, Intuit wanted me to INVITE them to access a file they've been intimately involved with for upwards of 20 years. There is NO way I'm linking each company file user account with a new, Intuit online account. Have you people completely lost your mind?
The one time I called support to beg for relief, I was told that all I had to do was use the master account from CAMPS, login with that, and the popup goes away. Really? What part of I DON'T WANT TO LINK MY COMPANY FILES TO ANY INTUIT ONLINE ACCOUNT is so difficult to understand? I purposely have avoided MS Office 365 and continue to buy perpetual licenses for that very reason. I don't link a single Windows 10 workstation to an online account, they are all domain joined. At least Microsoft gives us a lame choice so we don't have to hand over our corporate emails to them when activating their product.
But, as my other complaining posts have stated - Intuit couldn't care less that a large chunk of loyal, long term customers are livid. They make a whole lot more money gigging users with their subscription service. Thank God I can retire soon.
Oh Look... another sign of high-tech quality software... Every day when I login to my computer, this window comes up and freezes... super great software Intuit!
I do not want to create an ituit account. We do not use QB online service because we do not wish our company info on line. We do not use payroll or any other Intuit servies.
I cannot believe that this is legal. We are denied access to our private company account because you are locking us out unless we give you access. How to I get into my account without an Intuit account?
Now they will not let me into my company file without creating an Intuit Account. I am totally blocked from my company information.
This cannot be legal. This is a huge security breech.
Is this a situation for a class action suite?
We purchased the desktop version because we did not want any online connection to our business. We want absolutely zero online access to our business. We do not use payroll or any other intuit service.
Now Intuit is trying to force us into installing a huge hole in our security.
This is just wrong
You should be able to bypass the popup screen by entering Alt+F4. Be sure you are in the popup before doing that by clicking anywhere on the popup window. Hope that helps to at least get past that point.
