I am not able to edit my vendor info while efiling 1099

Let me guide you on how you can edit your vendor information while filing 1099, Agarwal.

But before we start, are you getting any errors when trying to edit the vendor? We can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when a browser's cache data becomes full of frequent access to web pages or is damaged.

When this happens, it causes odd behavior when adding or editing vendor information. To better isolate this issue, let's sign in to QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private or incognito window. This helps us confirm browser-related issues since this mode doesn't use the existing cache data. Use the shortcut keys below:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

Once done, if it works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to delete those temporarily stored files and browsing history. We can also use supported, up-to-date browsers to roll out the possibility of a browser-related issue.

On top of that, learn how you can add a contractor or change an amount when you create a 1099. I've added this article for more information: Troubleshoot Missing Contractors Or Wrong Amounts On 1099s.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other concerns when editing vendor information. Remember, the Community is always right here to help you 24/7.

I am not able to edit my vendor info while efiling 1099

I have tried clearing cache and using incognito sessions. I've also tried several different browsers on a Mac and on a PC. I am in the Payroll - Contractors sections and I am able to edit the vendor info, however the system will not save any changes. When I click the Save button the button flashes registering the click, but the edit modal stays open and the updates I've made are not saved. I can't submit these 1099s with incorrect information, but the system is not allowing me to save any changes.

Thank you for joining this thread and sharing your concern about editing your contractor information in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @NCH130I'm here to assist you by providing some workarounds and details about the editing issue. After that, I will guide you in the right direction for further support.

We recognize the inconvenience caused by the inability to edit a contractor's information due to the page being unresponsive, and I'd like to inform you that our Engineering Team is looking into it and working to implement a solution to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, you can use one of the following workarounds to edit your contractor information:

  1. To add the contractor's personal details (name, address, etc), click the blue ADD next to Personal Details.
  2. To add or edit the bank information, DO NOT CLICK the Add Manually, click the blue ADD next to Bank Account instead.
  3. If you need to email your contractor so they can enter it themselves, click the blue Send Email.

Nonetheless, I highly suggest contacting our Technical Support Team and present this investigation number (INV-95397) to our representative to speed up the process. This ensures they can add you to our notification list and help our engineers determine the number of affected users. You'll also receive an update via email once a resolution update is available.

I appreciate your continued patience as we’re working to fix this. Just let me know by commenting below if you have follow-up questions about filing your 1099s in QBO. I'm always willing to help. Stay safe!

I am not able to edit my vendor info while efiling 1099

Hi Kevin,

I also tried editing the information using that page, and I'm experiencing the same issue with the Save button/functionality.

I am not able to edit my vendor info while efiling 1099

I was able to figure this same issue out with the assistance of a QB Support Team Member named Jessica. The workaround is actually to go to Expenses > Vendors, click on the Vendor name, then click edit and change the information there.  Hope this helps.
