i just installed my quickbooks on a new computer with windows 11 and it its crashing. is this because its not compatible with the new windows?

Right now, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2022 and 2023 are compatible with Windows 11. These articles will provide info about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run the program.

If you're using QBDT 2020 and 2021, you'll need Windows 10, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed (natively means not through an emulator or virtual environment). To prevent the program from crashing during the installation, I suggest checking out these articles to see the requirements for your selected version.

Try reinstall your QBD 2021 in Win 8 compatibility mode. I still don't trust to run QBD on Win 10 Pro or Win 11. I'm still running QBD 2021 Premier on Win 10 Home with no issues.
