Hello there, @rullich. I'm here to help you with the discrepancies you are experiencing between your QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) reports.
When migrating from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you may notice some differences in your reports. For instance, when using a cash basis, the reports may not match because QBO and QBDT do not track transactions as paid similarly. Additionally, inventory reports may differ because QBO and QBDT calculate inventory differently. Moreover, reports may mismatch due to export limitations and the use of unsupported versions of browsers.
To resolve this issue, you can follow these steps:
It's important to note that it's recommended to consult your accountant to guide you in entering the adjustments.
Once you've resolved the issue, you can personalize your forms by following this article for guidance: Use and customize form templates.

I was told Qbdt 2023 should work fine. What would be another possibility other than buying qbdt 2024?
I have retried converting several times and done everything that the help links from qbs has sent me. The Profit and Loss (Accrual basis) on a few of my accounts are way off still. There has got to be an easier way than going back and manually reentering all those amounts.
I switched from QBDT to QBO just a couple weeks ago but found out that I had to pay extra for two company files so I am trying to transfer that same info back to QBDT because I do not have to pay extra for two company files. All my info did transfer just fine when I went from qbdt to qbo. BUT now it is not exporting all of my info back on to qbdt. Im several thousand dollars off. Every time I try to speak to a QBO employee, they tell me the same thing and then somehow I lose connection with them.

When did you purchase your QBD 2023 license? You are entitled to get a license code for 2024 for free

I would recommend using your last backup file and restoring it on your QB Desktop. Then you can register new data manually. You can use the migration tool if necessary.
Another option, purchase a third-party service to convert your data.
I updated to 2024 and tried exporting again. Unfortunately it still did not export all of my data. I contacted customer service again. He logged in to my QBs and walked me through all of the steps of exporting to QBDT but more data was actually missing after he was done. He then put me in contact with the qb support team accountant who gave me a case # and spent 3 hours trying to get the info to export correctly. He was very kind and I believe he tried all that he could but stated that he understood my frustration and actually receives several of these complaints but said that it wasn't in his job description to make sure that all of the data could be exported correctly. So, I asked him if he could get in contact with someone from that department and let them know that this is happening to paying customers? He seemed like he did care and felt bad that I had to go back and manually enter data b/c my P&L's from QBO & QBDT were off by over $300,000.
I'm just at a loss for words. I never expected this kind of customer service and believe I have been truly patient and keep trying all the different suggestions. The customer support just said sorry and you will just have to manually enter all of that data again. I think a refund isn't too much to ask for after paying over $600 to QB's for a new yearly subscription and then they lost my data in the export.

That’s what I’m using now to balance things. Still shouldn’t have to do it manually, correct? A lot happened from my last qbdt backup to when I left qbo to go back to desktop. I know things like this happen. It’s just that my boss already paid me once to enter all of that data. He shouldn’t have to pay me extra hours to do the research and then renter all of the same data. It doesn’t seem right does it?
I would recommend the following
1. Keep your last backup file as is. You can open it at any time to access your historical data.
2. Convert your data from QBO for new transactions only to QB Desktop file. You can purchase a third party service to do this if necessary. You should use this new file going forward.
3. You may consider purchasing a third-party merging service if necessary.
Okay, I appreciate the suggestions. I have tried number 2 other than purchasing a third party.
I did not want to have to spend more $ for someone to do this since quick books should have done because I paid them. But, I will check into a third party.
Thanks a gain for suggestions.

Thanks again for suggestions.
Your cost will be less than $200 and you can request a refund if the results do not meet your needs. Risk free.
Thanks for your help.
I would like to request a refund from QBs. How do I do that?
Thank you!
