I Was Forced to Upgrade to the $150/month Pro or Pro Trial Version of QBO!

Thank you for this! I have been so frustrated. I have fourteen clients and each subscription has done this. I have suggested and most have agreed, to change over to desktop, I have two that are giving up on QB completely. I totally supported that and will learn the program they have chosen. They are small businesses and don't need the hassle QBO had become.

Re: I Was Forced to Upgrade to the $150/month Pro or Pro Trial Version of QBO!

Hello everyone. I'd like to take a moment to thank you all for sharing your viewpoints.

Also, I'm glad that @raokindness has found the plan that best suits their business. The following article contains additional information on downgrading a subscription should anyone have questions or would like to refer to it in the future: Downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

===========================================

Did you actually read that article you linked to? Why, why, why do you think I should have to go through all those steps because you guys decided to force this trial upgrade on my clients???

QBO will not be recommended to any of my clients going forward.

I was also forced to upgrade to Advanced from Plus and then have been unable to downgrade back to Plus because of a glitch on the Quickbooks end.  I've spent at least 2 hours on the phone with them inside my computer going around in circles trying to make the downgrade happen.  I was told 20,000 Plus customers were chosen by Intuit for the automatic upgrade to Advanced without choice or warning.  I find that very unethical, don't I need to agree to the terms of an upgrade before it can happen?  We were forced to "refresh" the page one day when logging in and the screen changed and that was that.  Very disappointing, we do not have the need for the upgrade.  It will change our monthly bill from $60 to $150, good for them, bad for us and for small businesses who are stretched so thin with time and money as it is.

The QB rep that's saying it automatically reverts back to the old version after the trial, this is not true.  It automatically goes into the upgraded rate unless you call and downgrade.  I've been on the phone with QB folks trying to get the downgrade but have been unable to make it happen.  On hold now, going on 3 hours of phone time and still not fixed.  I don't know what to feel except intensely angry and wrongfully treated as a long time QB customer.  Oh and no one has offered me a month credit for my time, that also surprises me.

But you "are" locked in if you are over the 250 chart of accounts.  We are a law firm with a business background.  That means the attorneys want to know where every penny goes.  We have 458 accounts and if they are tied to an income-you cannot delete them.  I have tried for 2 months to narrow this down.  Especially the ones we no longer use-but could not delete them.  We are trapped into upgrading and we will benefit from nothing-other than QBO greed.  QBO's decision to force an upgrade was about as smart as a sot thinking he can ride a bull.  "Hold my beer!"

Quickbooks (Intuit) has been pulling this kind of crap since day 1.  They "sell you a product" that is suppose to do all kinds of accounting, including Payroll.  Then they start to charge you for "upgrades", require you to subscribe to a payroll service; otherwise your payroll will no longer work.

Then after a couple of years, they announce they will "no longer support" your version, and REQUIRE an even more expensive upgrade.  Oh sure, you can get a upgrade for less; but why should you?  Your old program is working just fine.  But Intuit then starts to screw around with your software.  Either thru implanted "logic bombs" inside the software, and thru other "required updates" the software must do in order to work correctly.  Then all of a sudden, your software will no longer work.

I've had to reinstall so many times, and take backups of my database and re-create new databases from those backups; AFTER Intuit has screwed around with the program.

As of today, I can no longer use in multi-user mode.  We refused to upgrade beyond past 2018 version (I think).  WE no longer can to payroll, because the payroll updates we require will no longer work with our version.  I think the Government calls this Racketeering.  I thought that was Illegal.

Intuit must be owned by the Chinese like Hormel.  Arse holes.

I hit the 250th account on my chart of accounts and was forced to upgrade or quickbooks was completely locked.  I don't use ANY of the bells & whistles on this package.  I have ONE USER.  I don't send invoices.  I have now spent the better part of last evening and all day today trying to export data to Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2019.  The P&L and Balance Sheets DON'T MATCH.  Called Desktop Quickbooks they told me call Quickbooks Online.  Rep online told me yea, that's tough and made a joke about why I would want to do that. This is Intuit's attempt to hold us hostage because this is so time consuming and over our heads. They think we're locked into them.  Corporate Greed in a nutshell. Have been a dedicated QB desktop & enhanced payroll user for 15 years. I will not pay $150/month for a service I don't need. What a horrible way to squeeze a small business. Shame on you Intuit. I hope they lose a ton business from this very poor and greedy decision.

Its clear Quickbooks no longer cares about its customer base. Does anyone have any recommendations on software alternatives after we get rid of Quickbooks?
