Thanks for choosing QuickBooks Online (QBO) in running your business. Let me share some information about importing bank transactions, WeThotUWasAToad.
When importing bank data using Excel CSV (comma-separated values) files, it will provide you either a 3-column or 4-column format. The option to include the Category and Memo columns in the CSV template format is unavailable. You can check out this article for more details: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.
However, you'll see the Category and Memo field once you downloaded the transactions in QBO. See the screenshot below:
This way, you can categorize or edit the transactions before adding them to your register.
Here's how:
- Go to the Banking page.
- Click For Review tab.
- Double-click the transaction.
- Tick the Category drop-down and choose a tax category.
- In the Memo field, you can edit it if you want to add more details.
- Tap Add.
For more details about this one, check out this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
If you need to import more than 90 days of bank transactions, just refer to this article for the steps and details: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
