Importing from IIF file getting an error, The Account Name on a distribution does not exist in Quickbooks [11110]

The Account Name on a distribution does not exist in Quickbooks [11110]

We were importing IIF files into QB 2015 and moved to 2019.  Now we are getting an error message as seen above.  It used to work fine in 2015.  The IIF file has has the following columns.

!TRNS TRNSID TRNSTYPE DATE ACCNT NAME AMOUNT DOCNUM CLEAR TOPRINT MEMO
!SPL SPLID TRNSTYPE DATE ACCNT NAME AMOUNT DOCNUM CLEAR QNTY MEMO CLASS

!ENDTRNS

What does the error message mean and how can I solve it?

thanks in advance

Yes, QB 2019 has many new unneeded restrictions added in an effort to save you from yourself. But IMO they get in the way more than they help.

See BRC QuickBooks 2019 IIF Import Changes and Recommendations  for steps to import the old way that worked for you.

Importing from IIF file getting an error, The Account Name on a distribution does not exist in Quickbooks [11110]

Hi there, @MikeStrider.

The Account Name on a  distribution does not exist in Quickbooks [11110] error happens when there are errors or typographical errors in your IIF imported file most specifically on the account name. I'd be happy to help you import the file successfully to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To import the IIF file successfully, you must check the file first. Double-check the account names used, the spelling and any other typographical error. You must ensure that the names used exists and are acceptable in QuickBooks.

Once done, checking the file, try importing it again.

You can read this article to know more about importing/exporting IIF files in QBDT: Export or import Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) files.

Please know that I'll be right here to help you have any other QuickBooks or importing questions. I'll be glad to help you!

We have been importing iif files into quickbooks for years.  Just upgraded from 2018 to 2019 and the iif import worked fine except for the information in the "docnum" is blank in quickbooks after the import even though there were values (check numbers) in the iif file.

Thank you for letting us know, @tfoster171.

I'm here to help share some insights and get this import process working for you.

Generally, if the information is missing when importing the data, it's possible that data was formatted incorrectly. Also, we don't recommend the option Import it for me. I'll fix it later. Since this option bypasses data review, some of the info may not be correct or complete for your books. You can refer to this article for more details about unsuccessful import: File not imported.

If the issue persists after reviewing the format, I'd suggest reaching out to our Desktop Specialist to look into this further. I'm sure they can help you with this using their extra tools.

Please stay in touch with me if you have other questions about importing your IIF. I'm here to help however I can.

Every single list has errors and I have no idea how to fix any of them. These are lists that I exported and imported just fine with ZERO problems in 2018! Crazy!

To get around the unhelpful updates to iif import in QB Desktop 2019 and 2020 do this:

In the iif import window click the link below Import without review at the bottom: Import it for me. I'll fix it later.
