In Sales Tax Center receiving "Sorry, an error occurred". How do I resolve?

I understand the inconvenience receiving this error message must have caused. Let me make it up to you by providing some troubleshooting steps to help resolve this.

 

First, let's rule out any browser-related issues. Access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account in a private or incognito window. Here are some shortcuts you can use:

 

  • Ctrl + Shift + N for Google Chrome
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox
  • Command + Shift + N if you're using Safari
  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Microsoft Edge

 

If that works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the page. You can also use a different supported browser. There may be a temporary issue with the browser you're currently using.

 

As a workaround, I suggest switching to Automated Sales Tax. Here's a step-by-step guide on how:

 

  1. Go to the Sales Tax Center.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts on the Use Automatic Sales Tax page.
  3. If you don't see that page, please copy and paste this URL into your browser: https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/tax/set-up-tax.
  4. Complete the switch by following all of the prompts on your screen.

I have the same problem.  Per another post, I escalated my support case to the Office of the President.
