Invoice Email Format

Unfortunately, we use web mail and plain text still doesn't solve the issue for us.  Everything still appears in the email with no way around it unless we copy the text, download the PDF of the invoice and send outside of the program in Outlook (can't do it straight to outlook because we use remote desktops).  Really a crazy situation we're all in with this email template stuff.

Really, really disappointing we're stuck dealing with this garbage while trying to run businesses.

Thanks for this solution! I use Outlook for the outgoing emails, and this strips off the nonsense, and limits the email to the text tha I choose!

Hey Quickbooks Support -- can you tell people this instead of trying to teach them how to change templates (spoiler alert -- that does not work).

We use webmail as well and the Plain Text worked for us.  I did have to go back in to preferences twice because it did not save the plain text choice.

Did you change any other settings?

The footer and header automatically add in there still for us on plain text.

We got it now - it did taking going in and out of the preferences and saving twice before it went into effect.  The preview still shows it incorrectly but the emails come through much better.

Thanks for the heads up community!

QB - you guys are still the worst for making us do this stuff.

Can you give which steps you took in webmail? I use webmail as well and I have plain text selected and still have no option to change this mess.

It doesn't give you an option to edit the message - it just removes the header and footer.  When you send an invoice its just an email with the attached invoice.  Test by sending an invoice to yourself.  Hope this helps!

I don't use webmail, so I am unsure how to do that. I do have 3 options for email:

  • web mail
  • Outlook
  • Quickbooks Email

I do have the same selections for each, so i assume it should work, but with Intuit, we've seen the opposite.

I too want to reiterate that Intuit's forcing of these changes on your customers without any notification or any method to revert is completely unacceptable.  You first broke the capabilities to email out from Outlook in your release in December, taking an entire month to fix it, which you finally did in release R18_59, only for your very next release, R18_60, to go in an add completely unacceptable language and Intuit branding to emails.  I don't want my clients knowing I'm using QuickBooks, because it makes me look like an idiot to choose such a poor piece of software, but yet, now every email I send blasts out that it was generated by Intuit.  Every release you guys put out you simply make your product worse.  So extremely frustrating!

I'm not comfortable undoing the updates, for fear it will corrupt my company file.  The only real solution is to find another solution.  I don't want to reward intuit for forcing me out us quickbooks desktop, but it seems everything is moving to cloud service.  This definitely all began when Intuit wanted to penalize desktop users who were not paying annual subscription fees.  Then once they forced us to pay annual fees, they stopped supporting the desktop. I'm guessing if a large enough group wanted to switch to a quickbooks competitor, that competitor might be willing to offer a one time switch fee or discount. One year free or something?

Could we start a "Go-Fund Me" and have everyone that want to get organized to switch donate $5 to the fund that would be paid to the "Quickbooks" vs "Alternative" fund?  The winner gets all the money in the GoFund Me Account, as anyone that swtiches gets a year free.  The cost of making these changes is a huge investment, and Intuit knows we are being held hostage by our data. It is truly criminal.

I agree - this is one of the worst things I've ever experienced with QB. The email is downright confusing and extremely unprofessional. There needs to be a way for us to change it.
