Invoice Number

Let's enable your Custom transactions numbers feature and get your invoice numbers customized.

Let me show you how:

1. Go to the Gear icon of your desktop app.
2. Under Your Company, select Accounts and Settings.
3. On the Sales page, click Sales form content.
4. Select the check box for Custom transactions numbers to turn it on.
5. Click on Save and then Done.

Once done, you can customize the invoice transaction numbers on the Invoice no. field when creating a new invoice transaction.

If you're using a mobile app, you'll need to log in to your QuickBooks Online account via a web browser, then follow the same steps discussed above.

Hello!

Currently, in my company, both types of transaction documents have to share the same numbering system.  Can we have them each run their own numbering system?

If you've turned on the Customer transaction number option which my colleague @JonpriL provided above, the numbering system applies with both the Invoice and Sales Receipt transactions.

I'd make sure to pass a suggestion along to our product engineers with having a separate numbering system for these transactions. Customer suggestions are important to give you a better experience.
