Join nowIn the past two weeks, I cannot get my invoices to print or to save as a PDF file. Sales Receipts and Reports are not affected. I've read all of the community posts on this topic but nothing works! Here are the steps I've taken to try and resolve this problem:
1. Run the QB Tool Hub (all three items)
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled QBDT Pro 2019
3. Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft XPS Writer
4. Updated QBDT Pro 2019 and Windows 10
5. Designed new invoice template (still doesn't work).
Anyone found a way to fix the problem?
Glad to have you here in the Community, @scottcz.
I appreciate you performing some troubleshooting steps to resolve your printing issue for invoices. Let's perform other troubleshooting steps to get this fixed.
Since running the QuickBooks Tool Hub doesn't fix the issue, let's try resetting your temp folder permissions. Here's how:
Then, let's confirm if you can print save as PDF to your XPS. Let me guide you how.
If you can't print to your XPS printer (or actual printer) outside of QuickBooks, I recommend contacting your IT personnel or Microsoft for more guidance.

Please keep in touch if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back. Have a great day and keep safe.
Mark: thank you for the response. I tried all that and it generally still doesn't work. Here's what happens when I do each of the following with an invoice:
1. File--Print Invoice--select my local printer: Does not print and QB freezes.
2. File--Print Invoice--Select "Adobe PDF" as my printer: This works to save as a PDF, which I can also print.
3. File--Save As PDF: This does not work and QB freezes.
4. Invoice screen: Print--Invoice: Does not print and QB freezes.
5. Invoice screen: --Save as PDF: Does not print and QB freezes.
So I found a workaround that works for me, but I would still like to save and print from the invoice screen. Any other ideas what's going on? Thanks.
Hi there, @scottcz.
I appreciate you for all the time and effort you’ve spent on performing those troubleshooting steps.
It seems all the possible way to fix your concern is already mentioned. It would be best if you reach out to our Technical Support team to check this further and get this back to normal. With the help of their tools, they can offer a screen share session to view your account and to easily identify the root cause.
Here how to contact them:
Let me share this article about progress invoicing where you can split an estimate into as many invoices as you need. It also keeps project payments organized: Set up and send progress invoices in QuickBooks Desktop.

Some other troubleshoots:
1. Create a dummy file or open a sample one to make sure you can create the invoice.
2. Run the verify/rebuild data utility
3. Create a backup copy (QBB) and restore it with a new name.
4. Reinstall and run QB on compatibility mode Win 8.
Hope it helps.
