Greetings,
I have been having a discussion with some users about the admin account for quickbooks. I have always been taught that the quickbooks admin account was unique int he system and should not be used for daily activities. I have been doing research to backup my point, but I have hit a wall because google always points me to "reset admin password" help topics instead of the information I am looking for.
My question is; is it OK to use the admin account for daily activities? Are there any documents out there that define why it should or should not be used in place of a named user account?
Thank you

Hey there, @tzykid.

As of right now, there isn't a document supporting this. However, you're correct in your knowledge of this. QuickBooks admin user is set only to run when permissions are needed in the company file. We don't suggest running the admin user every day due to users can become broken over some time. When a regular user is broken, the fix is simple. You can delete and recreate the user. However, with the admin user, they are not so easily repaired. Usually, when an admin user becomes broken, this means there's damage in the company file.
Please feel free to reach back out if you have questions. I'll be here to help you every step of the way. Take care!
Imho, it is different with Admin credential in Windows due to some security issue and minimize the system failure, for example. You may have more than one profile for your own to work on QB Desktop. You can set another profile for yourself to limit some access. You can avoid to make some mistake later.
