old transactions are showing up as creddits and reducing amount of deposit. how can old transactions be hidden?

We're delighted to address your first inquiry regarding the old transactions affecting your current deposit, deborahbelcher85. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and understand your concern about how these past entries impacted your recent deposit. Let me guide you through some steps we can take to address this situation effectively.

To begin with, could you please elaborate on what you mean by old transactions showing up as credits? This is to clarify because only expense transactions reduce the deposit amount in QuickBooks.

In both QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), there isn't a direct option to hide all transactions from your accounts. However, if these old transactions are no longer relevant, we have alternative solutions. We can either filter them out of your view or, if appropriate, void or delete them.

To filter transactions in QBO, here's how:

  1. Navigate to Transactions and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select View register beside the account where entries are located.

  3. Click the Funnel icon and enter the appropriate dates. Then, select Apply.

For QBDT, let's run a QuickReport to filter the old transaction following these steps:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and choose Chart of Accounts.

  2. Look for the account where the entries are located.
  3. Click QuickReport.

  4. Click Customize Report.
  5. Under the Filter dropdown, choose Date and enter the appropriate date.

If the transactions are no longer needed, here's how to delete or void them in QBO:

  1. Go to the Transaction menu on the left panel and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the View register beside the account where transactions are.

  3. Select the transaction you wish to remove.
  4. Tap More, then choose Delete or Void.
  5. Once done, select Save and close.
