Any specific concern? The feature to send a backup file for QBD Mac format is only available on QBD Pro/Premier. Which QBD Mac year version do you have?
I have Quickbooks Mac Desktop 2020. Would have upgraded to the latest, but a standalone (non subscription) purchase is no longer available.
As to specific concern, the inability to migrate the data is the concern. It's my data and I would like to have it for my access at some future date, without having to pay a subscription for access via Quicbooks Online or subscription based desktop application.
QBD Mac 2020
You must have QBD (Windows) 2020 Pro/Premier installed to exchange files with QBD 2020 Mac. Contact us in private and we may share the trial code for QBD 2020 Pro. You can also still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 Mac.
Hi, were you able to solve this? I have same issue. had to download free trial of QB desktop for windows and put on old WIN laptop I had. I exported QB online data to the WIN desktop but need to convert to MAC and the file>utilities>copy company file for QuickBooks Mac" is not available in free trial version of QB for WIN desktop.
all the instructions online say to download the free trial if you don't have a paid QB WIN desktop product-- for the singular purpose of converting QB Online to QB MAC desktop. and then the almost-final step isn't even an option.
It would cost $300+ to pay for 3rd party service to convert and same for purchasing paid version of QB WIN desktop...but I just spent that much buying QB MAC desktop product and I use a MAC. had to dig out really old WIN laptop just to get this far. SO FRUSTRATING!!
Hi, were you able to solve this? I have same issue. instructions say to download free trial if don't have QB WIN desktop but then the "copy file to QB Mac" isn't an option on the free trial version. What the heck?
bad enough that I had to scrounge an old WIN laptop just to get this far in the process of converting QB online --> QB WIN desktop --> QB MAC desktop.
at this point, my only solutions seem to be 1) spend $300+ on 3rd party service to convert for me 2) spend $300 on QB WIN desktop paid version to complete the conversion to MAC compatible file or 3) go back to QB Online and suck up the $300 I paid for QB MAC desktop product.
VERY FRUSTRATING! Has anyone figured out a solution?
You don't need to purchase any QB Desktop (Windows) license. You only need to purchase a 3rd party service to convert data from your QBO account directly to QB Desktop for Mac file format.
I hear you, @llbeans.
I'll make sure you're able to convert your data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. To make sure we are on the same page and resolve this matter, may I know the reference you used?
Saying you've downloaded a trial version of QuickBooks Desktop for Windows, can you tell me what version is it? This way, I can determine where and how we are going to proceed with the conversion of your company data.
Keep me updated in the comments below. Hope to hear from you as soon as possible. Take care and stay safe!
