I've set up my items in inventory with a sales price. Unfortunately, when I create an estimate and select an item, the sales price doesn't carry over with the item. Am I overlooking something?
Good day! I'm joining you here to offer my help about sales amounts, Nmpco.
The sales price of the item should automatically show up when creating estimates or any other types of sales transactions. I'll share steps on how to resolve common program and data issues that might have caused the amount to not carry over.
First. make sure that your QuickBooks is on the latest maintenance release. Here's how:
Second, use the QuickBooks Tool Hub or repair the software in case you're still getting the same issue. Similar to updating to the latest release, this tool also resolves common errors and unexpected results when working in the program. Here's how to use it:
Let me share these articles as well for more details and references:
After all the steps are completed, create an estimate to check if the sales price is already showing up automatically.
Don't hesitate to get back here and let me know if that resolves the issue. The Community is always here of you have more questions for us.
I have followed your update and repair instructions, but I still do not get the pricing to populate. I'm not sure if I'm missing something in the item setup, such as does the Unit of Measure have to be enabled? I didn't see a good video on setting up items, so it's possible I have something not setup correctly.
I've figured it out. The video does not show that you need a "Unit Cost" when using inventory items in order for the price to populate. This solves my issues.
Glad you've managed to solve the puzzle, @Nmpco.
I'm happy you've identified why the sales price of your inventory items is not showing up when creating estimates and managed to populate them correctly after typing in the corresponding unit costs.
As always, let us know in the comments below if you have any other QuickBooks concerns. The Community space got you 24/7. Take care and have a good one!
This actually doesn't work - seems to be a major bug in the program that needs to be fixed ASAP
The Estimate/Quote should display on the screen both the Sales Price, and the Cost (our Cost)
and simply displays both as the Cost. Let's get this fixed Programmers!!
