Good afternoon,
We currently set up projects under the customer to track costs. I invoice from the project also. Someone mentioned that you should always invoice under just the customer name, not the project. Thoughts?

It's good to see you here again, Michelle0531.
Yes, creating an invoice through the Project page is okay. It's easier this way since QuickBooks will automatically pull up the project name.
Let me show you how to accomplish this task.
When a customer pays an invoice, you need to record the payment in QuickBooks. This will mark the invoice as paid. You can also notify your customer a reminder when invoices are, or soon to be, overdue. Check out these articles below as your guide.

Hi there, @Michelle0531. I'm here to share some details about creating an invoice for a customer's project in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In QBO, when adding an invoice to a project via the Invoice feature, you'll have to select the project name associated with the customer. If you select the customer's name only, this will become a separate transaction that is not connected to the project. Please see the screenshot below for reference:
(The first one is the customer's name not associated with a project. The second one is the project name of the same customer).
For reference, please check this article: Set up and create projects in QuickBooks Online.
You can also run a project report to track your labor costs and profitability in QBO. To do so, simply go to the Reports menu, scroll down to the Business overview section and select the Project Profitability Summary report.
If I can be of help while managing your project transactions in QBO, please let me know by leaving a comment below. I'll be always here ready to help. Have a good one.
@DivinaMercy_N Good morning! I do know how to create a project and invoice through the project. My question was is it ok to invoice through the project? Someone told me I should be invoicing just through the customer tab, not the project?
Thank you!!

Company is new to QuickBooks online. Want to set up projects for customers that are currently opened and in progress. Is there an easy way to update all expenses and invoices to the customer-project name?
Hello there, DHOWELLACS. I understand that you want a quick way to modify the project name of your customer's expenses and invoices.
Currently, the specific functionality that you're asking for is unavailable. We recognize the importance of this feature to our users. You can send feedback requests to our Product Development Team so they can check and consider this in future updates. I'll show you how to do it.
While this preference isn't possible, we can manually open the invoice and expense one at a time to assign the customer's project name. Here's how.
For the expense transactions:
Additionally, ensure that the Track expenses and items by customer are turned on. It's to show the Customer/Project column in the expenses window. See screenshots below:

Please come back again if you have further concerns about projects. I'm always here to assist. Have a wonderful day!
Hey MaryLandT,
I want to perform CRUD Operation using REST API, but inside your official doc I'm not able to see any thing related to the Projects.
Please help me.
Hey there, @JohnWillSmith.
Thanks for taking the time to follow along with the thread and sharing your concerns. I hope you're having a great day.
For this one, I recommend reaching out to our Development Team. This way, our developers can provide more insight into performing CRUD operations using REST API. You can use the link I'm including below to connect with our team directly.
In the meantime, I'm also including a guide that covers more information that I think you'll find beneficial for this process: What can you do with the QuickBooks Online Accounting API.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. Take care, and have a good one!
