"QB HELP" stopped working. How to reactivate?

When clicking on HELP, the new window box stays empty with no interaction. I wont work with any of my company files.

"QB HELP" stopped working. How to reactivate?

Hi there, GZtampa.

 

This can be experienced when there are missing details or damaged files in the program. Let me show you the possible reasons that results to a frozen program.

 

  • Your program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged
  • Your company name may be too long
  • You may have a damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file
  • You may have corruption on your hard drive
  • You may have a damaged Windows operating system

 

Here's the list of solutions to fix frozen program:

 

  1. Run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. 
  2. Run the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic tool from the Tool Hub
  3. Rename the QBWUSER.ini file.
  4. Run the Clean Install Tool
  5. Create a new Windows Admin User.

QB Support says they are working on the FIX and I am not the only one with this problem. To be continued....?

QB Support says they are working on the FIX and that I am not the only one with this problem.  Nothing at this time will fix the frozen "QB Desktop Help" from working. To be continued....?

I've got the details you need about viewing the In Product Help window on all of your company files, @GZtampa

 

I appreciate you for contacting our support team. Please take note that you'll receive email updates about the investigation's status and its fix. 

 

In the meantime, you can perform the steps below so you can complete your tasks in the program. I'll guide you how. 

  1. Close Quickbooks Desktop (QBDT).  
  2. Delete QBW.ini under C drive, program data folder, Intuit folder, and Quickbooks version you have.
  3. Reset Internet Explorer Settings including Personal Settings.
  4. Restart your computer.
  5. Open QBDT.
  6. Press F1 to see the new OIHS.

 

The screenshot below shows you the third step.

Once done, go back to the Help menu. Then, select QuickBooks Desktop Help. This lets you get answers to your product questions.

I am working in QBES20 and none of the help features will work, not the quick help links within the menus.  Is this a glitch in 20 version or how do I fix this?

Our engineers are working on with this issue, Jenir. 

 

They have been closely looking into the root cause the Help menu isn't working as expected. I'd suggest giving us a call or chat so our Phone Support Team can add your account to the notification list. Updates and a permanent fix will be sent via email. 

 

Alternatively, you can use these steps on how to contact us:

  1. Click this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop and then click Continue as a guest
  3. Choose and select Enterprise as the version. 
  4. Click Download and Register
  5. Scroll down to the screen until you see the option on how to connect with us. 
  6. Select either Get Phone Number to call us, or Start a Message
