QB Server for MAC

We have 2 MAC computers, one is our file server, that same computer has our QB on it.  We are running Version V17.2.31 R32 on both as well as QB Server on the desktop/server.

Everything was fine before we updated to this version, now we can't share the database any more.

I can open the databases on both computers in single user mode, so we have read write access to the databases. The computer with the server running on it can open the database in multi-user mode, only the second can not.

QB Server for MAC

Hello there, @Wendy10990.

Thanks for coming to the Community for help. I've got just the steps you need to fix this issue right away.

Let's make sure that the QuickBooks server is running and the company file is shared in order to fix this multi-user issue in QuickBooks for Mac. Here’s how:
1.    Select Go, then click Applications.
2.    Double-click the QuickBooks 20XX Server.app icon.
3.    If the file is listed under NOT SHARED, select the file, then Start Sharing. If not, select + to add the file.

Please note that the QuickBooks Server app should only be installed and running on the host computer. Also, the company file must be on the same computer it’s installed on.

Then, check the Mac OS firewall settings to make sure it's set to allow incoming connections. To do that, follow the steps below:
1.    Go to the Apple menu, then select System Preferences.
2.    Choose the Security & Privacy icon, then the Firewall button.
3.    Select the Firewall Options button. If it’s grayed out, click the lock icon to unlock it.
4.    Click Allow Incoming Connections.

You also need to verify if the sharing permissions are set correctly on the host computer. Here’s how:
1.    Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
2.    Select the Sharing icon.
3.    Mark the File Sharing checkbox.
4.    Select + under the Shared Folders column and browse to the folder where the company is located, then select Add.
5.    Under the Users column, the permission should be set to Read and Write for Everyone or just the specific users who will be using QuickBooks.

For more details and other recommended solutions, you may check out this article: Troubleshoot multi-user issues for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Please give these steps a try and let me know if it corrects the issue, it’s my priority to get this resolved. Thanks for reaching out. I’ll keep an eye out for your response.

QB Server for MAC

Hello,

I thank you so much!! You solved my problem where other experts and QB tech support failed! I spent hours on the phone and had an IT guy come to my office. Lost 2 days of work too! The problem turned out to be the firewall was blocking the incoming files. Again, thank you.
