QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

Seems typical of the disgusting practices of this company. Breaking your own software with an update, then retroactively claiming our Server version doesn't support the very product we've been running on it for nearly two years. Then issuing no fix for the problem and letting your users come up with fixes and workarounds. There needs to be a class action lawsuit over this.

QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

Same here, after the R12 update QB DT Ent V23 will not run on Server 2012,

We are still able to use as a share file for local desktops. But on the server the program is a mess.

QB/Intuit states V23 is incompatible with Server 2012.   And there's no solution. Or none that's acceptable.

If you go back to R11 in multiuser you are not going to get very far...

We have six users and this is a mess.  QB Intuit seem to always find ways to screw things up.

QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

This issue cropped up after the update on our Windows 2012 R2 RDS server where we have users remote in from satellite offices. This caused major havoc and our users couldn't do their work. I wound up having to spin up a new Windows 2022 server, configure a new RDS server on top of that and move the users over. It took me all weekend. I should be sending Quickbooks an invoice and a lawsuit letter for causing such a mess.

THEY DIDN"T EVEN TEST IT ON SERVER 2012 BEFORE THEY RELEASED THE UPDATE! THIS IS HOW PATHETIC THEY HAVE GOTTEN.

They aren't about to fix it.  They have punted.  You can't get them to have a conversation about it, just like everyone else has said.  It's disgraceful.   They blame it on 'the developers'.  If I had 'developers' who rolled out something that couldn't be rolled back or repaired without blaming a third party... AFTER the fixed the issue, heads would roll.

Yea, they will not fix it guys. Your only options are to rollback to the previous update version and then block access to the update folder Quickbooks uses to stop it from updating using permissions, or upgrade the Operating System.

Same here. Hoping that Intuit reconsiders the compatibility of QuickBooks Enterprise V23, with Windows Server 2012

They won't fix it, but they have no problem jacking up the monthly subscription price.

QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

Thank goodness for this post, because we had the exact same thing happen to us with Enterprise Desktop R24. Spent hours and hours trying all sorts of uninstall/reinstalls, running the Tool Hub and File Doctor, on the phone with support, etc, and nothing was working. Found this post and symptoms were an exact match, and sure enough an install of the client on a non 2012R2 workstation got our access back. Pretty crazy that they are able to just drop a forced automatic update that removes support for an operating system with zero form of notification.

I know right? And even more crazy that you had to spend hours on the phone with support because they aren't even aware that support was dropped themselves lol.

QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

Yes, QB2023 after R11 update on Windows 2022.  I am having a similar issue but it is only happening to 2 users.   Their QB session keeps crashing on them, one is when reports are open and the other one happens randomly.

I appreciate your patience in returning to this thread, vb5. Allow me to provide additional information about the recent R11 update for QuickBooks Desktop, specifically for Windows Server 2022, and guide you through resolving the issue you're experiencing.

To begin with, let's verify that the update was successfully installed. To do this, here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Press F2 (or Ctrl+1) to open the Product Information window.
  3. Check your current version and release.

If an update is available, follow these steps to install it:

  1. Click Update available, then choose Install now to update.
  2. This may take some time.
  3. Open QuickBooks once the installation is complete.

For more detailed instructions, please refer to this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If the issues persist, let’s try some troubleshooting steps. Start by opening QuickBooks with all windows closed, as having multiple windows open can sometimes lead to unrecoverable errors on startup.

To open your file with all windows closed, follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In No Company Open, select your company file.
  3. Press and hold ALT on your keyboard, then select Open. Keep holding ALT until the file opens. If prompted to sign in, release ALT, enter your password, and press ALT again before selecting OK.

For additional solutions, you can check out this article: Troubleshoot Unrecoverable Error XXXXX XXXXX.

For future reference, if your company file won't open, feel free to read this article to help you fix it: What to do if you can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please keep us informed of your progress in resolving this update issue. Should you encounter any further concerns, don't hesitate to reach out.

  3. Select your desktop product on the Select Product dropdown menu.
  4. On the Select Version option, pick the year of the said version.

I left the computer with the error message on the screen for about two hours. It finally completed the update and appears to be working now. How to I disable automatic updates?

JanbonN

QBDT Enterprise 2023 - Errors after latest update

It's great to hear that your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is now working, don. I'd be glad to provide a way for you to disable the automatic updates.

Before we begin, please be aware that disabling auto-update is no longer an option for subscription-based installations. This change ensures that you remain online and up-to-date with the latest release at all times.

That said, there's a work around you can follow to disable the feature:

  1. In your keyboard, click the Windows key. Type and select Task Manager in the search field.
  2. Click More details and choose the Startup tab.
  3. Hover to the QuickBooks Automatic Update section.
  4. Right-click on your mouse and choose Disable.

Please note that because this item is located in the Startup section, it will always revert to its previous status. That said, I recommend getting in touch with your IT expert to ask for alternative ways of disabling the auto update.

Additionally, you can run reports to get a comprehensive overview of your business finances.

Let us know if you have other concerns with disabling your automatic updates in QBDT. We're here to help you in any way we can.
