I switched from Desktop to Online. In Products and Services, I am missing a way to put notes on individual items. Many of the items I buy have multiple vendor options. I need a way that I can track those vendors for each item. For instance, Widget A costs $1.00 from Vendor 1 and $1.05 from Vendor 2. I did this in the Desktop version but I have yet to figure out how to do this with the Online version. Is there a way to do it in QBO? Or is there a simple app (that doesn't cost a ton) that can achieve this goal?
Welcome to the Community, jimblairBCD1.
I'm here to share some alternative methods for adding notes to your items. You can use the Purchasing information field or a third-party application. Let me walk you through the steps to complete these tasks.
To add the notes, enter the information one at a time for each item. Here's how:
For the other option, let's go to the QuickBooks Apps Center and look for an application that allows you to enter notes for your products. Enter a keyword in the search bar to expedite the process. Go through each program on the list and check out the user reviews for a more accurate comparison.
To learn more about tracking products received from vendors and the inventory feature, check out the following resources:
I'm also including a link to our online tutorials and self-help articles. From there, you'll learn how to handle accounting-related tasks in the online program.

I appreciate your effort in helping me with this situation. But, your solution does not work for my needs. The information that I put in that space is what goes on the purchase orders to my vendors. I need a place that I can store purchasing information about different vendors for the same product. For instance, item #1 can be purchased from Vendor A for a certain price and Vendor B for a different price. Putting that information in the Purchase information of the item would not work.
This is a great functionality, jimblairBCD1.
As of now, we're unable to assign different prices for the same product in QuickBooks Online. I'd recommend sending feedback directly to our Product Development team. This helps us improve the features of the program.
Here's how:
You can also track feature requests through the Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online website.
