QBO: SUBTOTAL & PURCHASE ORDER/BILLS

Hello,

Is there a way to add a subtotal in purchase order or bill in QuickBooks Online?

QBO has this subtotal feature for invoices, but I have not been able to add a subtotal in purchase orders or bills.  I am also not sure if I can add a subtotal as a Product and Service item.  Is there an alternative method?

QBO: SUBTOTAL & PURCHASE ORDER/BILLS

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, MJ_MES.

You can add a subtotal field to purchase orders with your custom fields feature.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Custom fields.
  2. Click Add field or Add custom field.
  3. Enter a Name for your field.
  4. Tick the All Sales forms or Purchase Order checkbox. You can also turn both on.
  5. To display your custom field on printed and delivered forms, turn on the Print on form option.
  6. Select Save.

I can certainly understand how an ability to add a subtotal field to bills could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with custom fields which may come in handy moving forward: Add custom fields to sales forms & purchase orders

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a great Thursday!

QBO: SUBTOTAL & PURCHASE ORDER/BILLS

Hi Zack,

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately, I do not think the solution offers resolution.  What I need is an automatic/calculated sum that can be added as a line item within purchase order or bill itself.  I think Custom Fields requires my personal input, and is not what I need for this particular problem I have.

I do thank you for your thoughts!
