After installing Windows 10 update 21H2 and KB5007289 I rebooted and I was unable to get into my company file. It sometimes displays a COM error but it mostly just closes out the application. The event view logs Event ID 4 - An unexpected error has occurred in QuickBooks: Premier Professional Services Edition 2020 QuickBooks has experienced a problem and must be shut down, ErrorCode:1998304546.
Things I've tried so far to fix this:
- QuickBooks Tool Hub: Program Quick Repair, Diagnostics, File Doctor
- Reinstalled QB and ran updates.
- Removed W10 21H2 and KB5007289 updates.
- Disabled Antivirus and added exclusions.
I'm also seeing this error in the event logs:
An unexpected error has occurred in "QuickBooks: Premier Professional Services Edition 2020":
DBConnPool::HandleConnectionError errorCode:-6069, dbCode:-103 from file:'src\connpool.cpp' at line 1042 from function:'DBMgr::DBConnPool::init'
When I reinstalled the application was stable and I was able to login to the database. As soon as I applied the latest updates the program started crashing again. All other actions above had no effect.
Please let me know your ideas. Thanks!
Hello there, CJ323
Let's ensure that the operating system and other requirements meet to run QuickBooks Desktop without issues. You can check out this link for more details in checking them out: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and Enterprise Solutions 20.0. If one requirement needs to be updated or upgraded, you can install them so we can open QuickBooks seamlessly.
If you're seeing the unrecoverable window the moment you open QuickBooks, you'll want to select Send every time you receive it. Then, follow these steps for more detailed steps on how to fix unrecoverable errors: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps.
If the issue persists, I suggest reaching out to our Phone Support Team so they can further investigate what's causing the issue.
Please let me know how it works. I want to make sure that everything is taken care of. I'm here to provide any additional assistance if needed. Have a good one.
Are you able to Run QB then open the sample file or create a new file without any issue?
My system does meet all of the System Requirements.
I do not receive the unrecoverable window popup. I have seen that when I shutdown QuickBooks in the past.
I did contact support. They told me that I didn't have support but gave me a link to try to solve the problem but this link from what I can tell is totally unrelated to my issue.
I have tried a number of the steps that were listed in the General Troubleshooting steps link you provided. QuickBooks Tool hub, File Doctor and the Program diagnostics. None of these worked.
I did find some steps that did get things working but I still have some errors in the event log. I completely removed QuickBooks, rebooted, reinstalled QuickBooks, updated QuickBooks to the latest patch. At this point I had the same issue. Then I removed QuickBooks again, rebooted and reinstalled QuickBooks but I did not update QuickBooks to the latest release. I was then able to open my QuickBooks file and process my invoices. I've ran backups and integrity checks and all seemed well at this point. Since that was going well I updated to Maintenance Release #8 manually everything seems to be working correctly with this release. With this knowledge I ran the automatic update again and found that the problem is no longer happening. The QuickBooks file is open and stable. I am still getting the event log errors each time I open QuickBooks.
Here are those errors:
- An unexpected error has occured in "QuickBooks: Premier Professional Services Edition 2020":

DBConnPool::HandleConnectionError errorCode:-6069, dbCode:-103 from file:'src\connpool.cpp' at line 1042 from function:'DBMgr::DBConnPool::init'
Any idea how I might clear up these error messages?
Thanks! CJ323
Also, when I shutdown QuickBooks I get these two additional errors in the Application log in Event Viewer:

Exception saving the cache

Hi there, @CJ323.
Thanks for following up with us and letting us know all of the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.
I'm glad you were able to get things back up and running. As for the rest of the error messages, you'll need to contact support. This way, one of our Tech Support Agents can review them and investigate the matter further. If needed, they have the tools available to esculate the errors to our engineering team.
I understand that you don't have support included with your purchase of QuickBooks, however, support does offer a one time payment to receive tech support for the issue call in about. You can use the link I've included below to connect with an agent.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Take care CJ!
When I called in I was not offered one time support. I was offered two options: a email with the corrective action to the problem or they said I would need to upgrade to the latest version with support. I chose the email which did not solve the problem.
Thank you for your assistance thus far. I appreciate the help. I plan to troubleshoot these errors myself so if there is anyone else in the community reading this who has had this issue and has a possible solution please do share that here with a reply to this post. I will be sure to confirm the resolution to the errors here when they are found.
Thanks!!

You're most certainly welcome, @CJ323.
I wanted to ask if you tried calling the phone number listed at the bottom of the article I shared above? Or if you had requested a call back from one of our agents through the product? If you have tried calling in, let's go ahead and request a call back from QuickBooks.
Here's how:
I also wanted to mention that we do offer phone support with the one-time support option. You can read more about what types of support we provide and pricing in Care Plans for QuickBooks Desktop.
Please feel free to reach back here any time. Have a wonderful and safe day ahead!
Thank you for that information, if I'm unable to solve this on my own I will look into the option you provided.
