Quickbook Pro Company Backups

Can I remove previous Quickbooks company backups on my computer and just save the current backup?  I also have an external backkup.  I need to free up space on my computer.

Certainly, Mamabesewin. Allow me to walk you through the deletion process.

We can manually search for the previous backup files and delete them. They're usually stored in a designated folder on Mac. The default location for this folder is within the QuickBooks program directory: [YourHardDrive]/Users/[YourUsername]/Documents/Intuit/QuickBooks/Company Files. Check out the complete steps outlined below:

  1. Click the Finder icon in your Dock or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Space to open Spotlight and type "Finder."
  2. Select Documents from the sidebar menu, then look for the Intuit folder and open it.
  3. Access the QuickBooks folder, then choose the subfolder named Company Files
  4. Look for files with the extensions .qbb or .dmg
  5. Right-click them, then select Move to Trash from the context menu.
  6. Right-click the Trash icon and hit Empty Trash

Always exercise caution when deleting data and ensure that you have a well-planned backup strategy in place. Cloud storage or external drives are viable options for saving space on your computer. If you're unsure about any procedures, it's a good idea to consult with your local IT support, who's familiar with your specific setup.

Finally, here's an article that you can read to learn how to restore your data and know what to do if you get an error while creating a backup:
