Quickbooks and Windows 11

Has there been any progress in having Quickbooks desktop (Pro) version 2021 work on Windows 11?   Not in a big hurry to upgrade, but like to plan ahead.

We do not recommend our clients to upgrade to Win 11 until QuickBooks runs it natively. We should wait for any update until Q3 2022.

I think it already works.  Do you have information from Intuit that says it doesn't?

I am very disappointed the way Intuit is treating the desktop version, some how this version will die, it will be soon, we are being pushed towards online. One of the biggest problems between QBD and Windows 11 is the fact that W11 does not use Internet Explorer, don't forget IE is on of core of QBD. Let's think outside the box, don't you think the QBD developers didn't figure that at some point this will happen, Edge has being out for a while but Intuit has not made the transition, and I don't think they will do it (hope I am wrong). I am running Enterprise 2021 on W11, with Parallels on Mac, I notice Outlook is not available on my "send form" options. The yearly subscription to access some features and the removal of direct scanning attachment are another confirmation for me for the push to the Online version. I personally will keep the settings I have, not planing to update or upgrade, by the end of the year I will loose the Payroll integration, well, I'll get another provider, QBO does not work for me.

I agree.  I need the desktop version.  I am out of the country quite a bit during the year and don't always have internet access.  I need to be able to use Quickbooks at any time not just when I have a connection.

Do you think anyone will let us know when the issue is fixed so we can get back to work?

Good to see you here, @larrry56

I would like to provide some information about the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) version compatible with Microsoft Windows 11.

As of the moment, only QBDT 2022 R3 or later is compatible with Windows 11 64-bit. For more details, feel free to check this article: QuickBooks Desktop Microsoft Windows 11 Compatibility.

Also, to verify what operating system is required to run QBDT 2021, check out the system requirements page. This is helpful to ensure you always get the best experience when using the program.

Additionally, here's a compilation of awesome help articles that you can access for further assistance in performing your QuickBooks tasks.

If you have any other QuickBooks concerns, feel free to post a comment below. I'm always willing to lend you a hand. Have a good one.

I just had to purchase a new laptop due to a hardware issue with my last one.  Since transitioning over, my Quickbooks Pro Plus 2023 does not print or email with Windows 11.  I did not realize I had committed to this version until it was apparently too late.  I did not want a version I have to repurchase every year.

This is a huge problem.  I cannot send out quotes or invoices to my customers via email.  And, I can't even print them to send separately.  I may have to return the new laptop and just revert back to my old one with an extended monitor to make it work.

I have run the Quickbooks Tools Hub repair app several times but it has not helped.  I can see my printer in Quickbooks but it will not print to it.  And, when I try to email, I get an error msg pop up

I recognize the need to complete invoicing tasks, e2ecomm. We appreciate you letting us know, and I'm here to help rectify printing and emailing invoice issues in your desktop file.

Beforehand, may I know what specific error message you've received when sending invoice emails to your customers? What issues you've encountered when printing quotations or invoices from your file? Any additional information would be much appreciated.

With QuickBooks Desktop, staying compliant with the program's system requirements may help improve your experience when working on your business tasks. To help address printing errors on your sales forms, we can perform troubleshooting steps to identify this unusual behavior. Let's consider printing other sample files from another program. To do this, we can try printing files using Notepads:

  1. From your desktop, select Start and browse to Notepad.
  2. Enter some text and go to File, then select Print.
  3. Select the correct printer and select Print.

If these steps won't allow you to print, we can check and test your printer setup. Here's how:

  1. Make sure the printer is setup correctly.
  2. Make sure the printer is the right one.
  3. Print to a different printer.

If the same thing happens, you can follow Solutions 3 & 4 outlined in this article: Fix printing issues in QuickBooks Desktop.

Moreover, if you couldn't connect to the email server or webmail when sending email invoices, you'll need to check the settings from the webmail preferences. You may follow Solutions 2 & 3 from this guide: Fix Error: Could not connect to the email server. However, if you've received errors when you're unable to send emails to Outlook you can refer and follow the steps from this resource: How to fix "Error: QuickBooks is unable to send your email to Outlook".

In addition, I'm adding this reference to help you enter received invoice payments from your customers: Record an invoice payment.

We'll keep this thread open if you have additional questions about managing sales forms and transactions. Please don't hesitate to leave a reply in below, and we'll be around to provide additional assistance. Have a good one!
