QuickBooks confidential emails include someone on the to-line that I do not know

QuickBooks has added someone on confidential emails that I have no idea who is (some comcast.net email address). This person is receiving confidential information about my employees, payroll, and taxes.

Is anyone else seeing this?

Hey, Intuit staff.

This seems pretty important. Maybe you want to pay a little attention.

QuickBooks confidential emails include someone on the to-line that I do not know

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, @GLADK. I understand how concerning it is to spot an unfamiliar email address in your confidential QuickBooks communications.

Rest assured that our emails will always come from an address ending in @intuit.com, including @e.intuit.com. Any links we send will direct you to a website with an intuit.com address. All legitimate Intuit websites have *intuit.com at the end, such as quickbooks.intuit.com, e3.intuit.com, and click.notifications.intuit.com. For more detailed information, visit this article: Identify suspicious activity, phishing scams, and potential fraud.

Additionally, it might be worth checking with any team members who have access to your account to see if they added that unfamiliar email address. Also, it could likely belong to your accountant. To help investigate this further, you can access the audit log by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon and choose Audit log.
  2. Select Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to narrow down the results based on User, Date, or Events.
  4. Click Apply.

It’s crucial to act swiftly in situations like this to safeguard your sensitive information. I highly recommend reaching out to our support team for further assistance. They can address any potential security issues or incorrect settings in your account.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to the Help (?) button and open the Search tab.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us.

Our support hours are as follows:

  • Plus, Essentials, Simple Start: Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM PT, and Saturday, 6 AM to 3 PM PT.
  • Advanced: 24/7.

If there's anything else I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread. I’m always available to assist you. Take care, GLADK.

@Just_me  Imagine responding to this kind of thing with their copypasta about phishing. You can't make this stuff up.

Are you kidding me? This is NOT about a phishing attempt - this is about QB breaching my privacy by adding some random person to emails sent to me with confidential information about my employees' pay, taxes paid etc. I have NOT agreed to you including some random person on the emails you send to me.

I have just spent over an hour on the chat and then phone with QB help desk trying to understand what is going on and why this person is included on my emails, and all I got was "we can't tell you who this is", but you can request us to remove this email.

This is not acceptable QB! Please have someone from QB who actually knows what's going call me!

@GLADK   Sadly, no one will call you, except scammers.  You have to call and call and call, until they FINALLY escalate your call to the next level.  But just fyi, they will tell you they are escalating it and will have someone call you, when in fact, no one will reach out.

I know some people have had better luck going to the QB Facebook page and posting complaints there.  Maybe you could try that?

Good luck.
