Join nowIs there a place to find sample spreadsheets to understand how to set up a csv to import data into Quickbooks Desktop for Mac? Seems like a basic ask from Intuit.
Hello HLArch,
We're unable to provide a sample .csv spreadsheets. However, you can follow the columns on the sample file.
You can open a sample file by clicking the Lists menu, and then selecting Add/Edit Multiple List Entries.
I've also added this manual as your guide when importing: QuickBooks Desktop for Mac User's Guide.
Please let me know if you still need help while importing.
So I've set up my Excel spreadsheet following your example and I copy and paste column by column into Quickbooks. I've pasted my first column, but when I paste my second column and not all cells have information, they will not skip rows so that the information lines up with the right row. I end up with information in that column in the wrong row. Is this seriously how this works??? This can't be right. I sure hope you can tell me how to bypass this.
I've set up a spreadsheet just like the sample with vendors, however, some vendors are missing some information. I went and pasted the first column into the import window. When I go to paste the second column, the paste doesn't skip rows for blank cells, it just pastes them and all my information on the second column is off from its intended row. Is this seriously how this works???? I sure hope you have a solution for this.
And I seriously cannot see my last two replies on this post!!!
Thanks for coming back, @HLArch. I'm here to help provide some insights about importing transactions to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac successfully.
The best way to do this is you'll need to make sure that there are no blank boxes on the Excel spreadsheet when pasting it to Quickbooks Mac. In a case like this, it won't paste it correctly since QuickBooks won't recognize the blank box in Excel.
As always, I'm around here to help you more if you have additional questions.
This is seriously a kindergarten program if this is how it handles importing. What is suppose to go in there? A zero? A space?
I have to find yet any 3rd party importer tool for QB Mac version. Consider to convert your file to QB Windows, install the trial license of QB Pro edition and utilize the 3rd party tool, and reconvert your file back to QB Mac version.
Just my 2 cents.
