quickbooks keeps crashing on my mac

Hi, @Hands on. I'm here to help.

To provide better assistance, I'd like to ask some clarifying questions for us to provide targeted responses to resolve the crashing issue you've experienced while using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Mac. May I kindly inquire which version of QBDT Mac you're currently using? What actions were you trying to perform before the issue happened? Did you encounter any specific errors? If yes, we'd greatly appreciate if you could add a screenshot of the error.

In the meantime, I can provide some general troubleshooting steps for resolving the QBDT Mac crashing issue you're experiencing.

Crashing issues could be caused by several reasons. One possible situation we can consider is the compatibility of the current version of your Mac Operating System (OS) with the version of your QBDT Mac. Moreover, updates can provide the latest patches and security updates that will resolve most compatibility issues. With this, I suggest ensuring your QBDT Mac is updated to its latest release as an initial step in resolving the crashing issue.

For the in-product update process, you can follow these steps:

  1. From the QuickBooks▼ dropdown, select Check for QuickBooks Updates.
  2. If a newer version is available, select Install Update.
  3. When prompted, select Install and Relaunch.
  4. When the update is complete, QuickBooks for Mac automatically opens.

To manually update your QBDT Mac outside the software, here's how:

  1. Uninstall QuickBooks for Mac.
      a. Close QuickBooks.
      b. From the Finder menu, select Go Applications.
      c. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Trash.
  2. Reinstall the latest version.
      a. Go to QuickBooks Downloads & Updates.
      b. Make sure to select the correct country, product, and version.
      c. Select Search.
      d. Select Download to download the installer file.
      e. Double-click the .dmg file.
       f. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Applications folder to install. To verify the update and check the release number, open QuickBooks and press Cmd+1.
  3. Restore your company file in QuickBooks.

Additionally, you can refer to this article about the system requirements for your QBDT Mac to run efficiently if you're using the 2024 version: System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

Let us know if you have any updates on the crashing problem you've experienced. We'll do our best to assist.
