Well... its running quickly in our testing but it sounds like there is an issue here with multiple users. Since its not happening here I'll need more info to try and recreate it so we can diagnose it. is this just happening when the online banking window (Download Transactions Window) is in use and/or open? If so it could be related to keeping the old download entries. Close all windows and does an invoice record quickly? If so its probably a need to clear the cache of old download transactions (there was an option to delete them as you record them and if you don't select that after a while it can get slow).
But since this is a complaint about the new software it might be something else. How big is your company file on the disk? Is it really large? What kind of disk drive do you have? Is it an SSD or is it a physical hard disk? M1s always have an SSD I'm pretty certain... how much free space is there on the disk?
One thing that often causes slow downs are open report and charting windows. These have to update every time you record a transaction if you have live reports on. There's a checkbox in Reports preferences to turn that off. Then you'll see a Refresh button appear on the report. Try turning on that checkbox.
Those are my first guesses. We've also improved the Condense function if your file is really large and we can try that. But lets see what the responses are to these.
When I go to record a simple transaction in the checking account, enter the info and click record it literally sits still almost a whole minute before that transaction is recorded. Also, definitely when you download transactions from the bank that process can take up to 10 minutes to complete when it used to take seconds.
Are they slow when you try it in the sample file? I listed all sorts of things to try to help us determine what is happening. There isn't much to go on without trying that stuff.
If you are ok with sharing your file we can try these things (albeit not on your computer). You can also reach out to this email address : [email address removed]

I'm the original poster and I was finally able to fix this. Your problem likely has everything to do with the fact that all of your OLD downloaded transactions are still stored in your downloaded transactions panel. You may have hundred or perhaps thousands there, and the new Quickbooks Mac Plus 2022 simply can't work with that. Those old downloaded transactions must be removed, and the ones you will download each month thereafter must be purged as you go (after matching). To remove all those old transactions I recommend calling to customer support and be sure to find someone that is familiar with this process. If you have a lot, there are some unique steps that must be taken. Good luck!
Sorry -- posted twice.
I think your message below was addressed to me.
I am a single user on the Desktop.
My Company file is 22.1MB. My Mac M1 has SSD of 1TB and I have 557GB available.
I have no open windows or Reports or anything. But ... I have been poking around and I find that my Company file is on my local (home) networked drive, where I store Backups, when i select Help and look at Product Information!
This could account for the slow response.
However, here is where I am confused. Shouldn't the default location be on my local disk at C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks\Company Files. ???
At least, that's what I have always assumed. My understanding was that Backups should point to a separate drive - in my case a remote network drive so that if my local file gets corrupted or crashes, I can restore easily.
When I look at MacHD, there is nothing in users\jagishahani\Public. How would I go about doing this.
The only thing I can do is select Backup and then choose Macintosh HD|users\jagishahani(my user name)\Public. Do I save it there? or create a path \PublicDocuments\Intuit\QuickBooks|Company Files? And then how do I ensure that QB will look at this locally.
Actually, I am intrigued as to why QB did not set it up like this when i upgraded to QB Mac Plus 2022.
Follow on thoughts. I think I should close the Company file and log off and then log back in again and select Restore?
I sense that because I am working off my remote company file that the performance may be slow. Although, I have a Mesh network and my speeds are in the 1 Gb range.
Been busy this morning trying to figure out what QBDT is doing! When I close and try to logoff, QB stops responding and i have to Force Quit.
Ayai yai!!
I'm responding to everyone who is experiencing lags to try and determine the cause. The Online Banking one is one I suggested - seems like that applies to one case. There was an option to delete them after matching that was presented in a one time message. I don't think we should even offer that option - the software should just do it and clean out the old ones. I'll enter a bug and hopefully we can just do that to make that issue go away.
Yes, running off a networked drive will probably be painful. You should keep the main file local to your computer (it is by default but you can of course open it from anywhere). With the file open hit command-1 and you'll get a status window. At the bottom will be a control that shows you where the file is stored. Click on that and you can open a window in the Finder where the file is stored. It have a .qbXXXX file extension where XXXX is the version year: .qb2022 for instance. Quit QB and drag that file to your local Documents directory (or Documents/QuickBooks if you want to further qualify it - you may have to create the QuickBooks directory). Then drag the file from the local location (Documents etc) to the QuickBooks application icon in your dock (Or in your Application folder) to make sure you are launching the local copy. That should fix the issue.
Having this exact issue. Apple M1 Max 64gb Ventura 13.1 (although acted exactly the same on Monterey) QB Mac Desktop V21.0.8 R9. Adding a Payee in the downloaded transactions window is painful. 30-45 seconds per line. Adding 200 transactions using the "add multiple" button takes a good 5-7 minutes of spinning ball. Very frustrating.
I am having this same issue since upgrading to to Quickbooks Mac Plus 2022 from the 2019 version (forced to upgrade because 2019 was no longer supported). Entering transactions is painfully slow especially the downloaded banking transactions. Entering one transaction takes minutes when it used to take seconds. Even entering Customer Sales Receipts is slow.
My Quickbooks is up to date: QuickBooks 21.0.9.1298 R10. I am on macOS Monterey version 12.6.3. The Quickbooks Company file is stored on my computer not on a network. I have run the utilities - verify data - no problems detected with the data. My company file is only 46.2 MB.
What else can I do to trouble shoot this issue?
I don't want to call customer support because in all my past experience with contacting support I end up on the phone for hours resulting in no resolution to my problem.
The 60% price increase for the annual subscription for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2023 to $549/year is painful considering the poor customer service and now the EXTREMELY slow software performance. It should not take minutes for the software to save a transaction. I am at the point of seriously considering another accounting software. Or better yet quitting the accounting profession altogether.
Thanks for joining in on this discussion, Amy.
I understand the challenges that arise when a program runs slowly. Don't worry. I've got other troubleshooting ways so you can improve the performance of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.
Latency issues in QBDT could be caused by a corrupted company file. That said, we can run QuickBooks Tool Hub to fix uncommon issues in your software.
To do that:

#5 in the list below mentions Windows Desktop. Just to confirm we are using Macs so are these instructions still applicable?
Thank you for getting back to us, @tmorrow.
Yes, the instructions will work for you. Also, I'll inform JaeAnnC about the typo to update this information right away.

I downloaded the QuickbooksToolHub.exe as you instructed. When I try to open it I get this ERROR:
You can’t open the application “QuickBooksToolHub.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on macOS.
So this solution is not for Quickbooks for Mac it is for PC users.
So now what do I do to troubleshoot my QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022 problem?
It doesn't work. QuickBooksToolHub.exe is for PC users not for Mac

Hello, Amy_C.
On MAC, QuickBooks Tool Hub isn't available. But allow me to show you what we can do to resolve the issue.
Since you've already performed verify and rebuilt data and no error was found. Other troubleshooting steps remove PLIST Files from both the User and the System. This will ensure that all data are free from any problem. You can follow the steps below on how to perform this:
Delete User PLIST files
Delete System PLIST Files
Then restart QuickBooks so the program will run fresh.

If it is only slow during online banking my guess is you have saved every transaction that has ever been downloaded. Try this:
Go into QuickBooks->Preferences (it is called QuickBooks->Settings on Ventura as Apple renames the menu). Click on Data Entry. Click on the Reset button for One-Time Messages.
Then go to perform online banking. When the Download transaction Window comes up go ahead and process one transaction (adding it to the register or matching it, whatever). Then close the Download Transaction Window.
You should see a dialog asking your to delete the downloaded transactions. It may be worded the opposite way ... I can't bring it up right now - but whatever it says make _sure_ you say "Yes delete the already matched downloaded transactions".
Did that fix the issue?
Oh, and if it didn't present that dialog let me know and I'll figure out a command line to do the same thing.
Hi Amy_C, I have found the solution to this problem and posted it several times but the moderators keep preventing it from appearing. You must contact customer service and have them help you to remove what are probably thousands of old transactions still existing in your downloaded transactions panel. Even though they've already been matched. It was OK to have them sitting there and hidden in QB2019 desktop, but the new version can't work with it. Those transactions must be purged, the database rebuilt, etc. Then you'll find it's working perfectly. I do hope you're able to see this message.
Yeah, that's what I was trying to achieve via the UI. It isn't a new issue with 2022 - it's just when it exceeds some threshold. We need to make it automatic but we ask the user at the beginning if they want to keep them so deleting them is problematic.
thank you. I tried it but it didn't present the dialog asking to delete the downloaded transactions
I would suggest to stop trying to work through this via the forum. Instead, use the option in Quickbooks under Help > Quickbooks Help > Contact Us to speak directly with a representative. You'll want to find out right away if they understand the issue of how to purge a large number of old transactions from your Quickbooks 'Downloaded Transactions' panel. And if they don't, then insist on speaking with someone who does know it. When I finally was able to solve this, I happened to get lucky speaking to a rep who was familiar with the issue. Multiple calls and service requests with other reps repeatedly fell short before that. And even with the rep who knew the issue, it probably took 20 to 30 minutes to get through it. So trying to find success in this forum's back and forth is not possible in my opinion. Good luck! (Oh also make sure they show you how to routinely purge future downloaded transactions as you go.)
