Most places where QB desktop is listed it shows the sale for a 1 year license.
Looks like it IS possible to get QB pro on a one time license for $400. This doesn't help me, since my wife and I file together and run separate businesses, we'd have to pay for an extra user which makes no financial sense. Being able to sync everything in all our businesses is why we started using QB online in the first place.
Sorry, the truth is that the present pricing structure for ALL QB products does not include a reasonable option for my household. So long QB!
Disgusting. My plan is going from 99$ to $270/year a x2,7 times increase!!!!!
Let's remember it is the same company that hides the free tax filing services from search engines and advertises a false "free filing" that forces people to pay if they want to get deduction for taxes - oh and that's for the lower income peeps! Just google "turbo tax lawsuit free tax filing". Sickening.
I need to start shopping for another company that values humans and respects them.
You are killing the mom and pop shops that use quickbooks so it is easier for them to have their taxes done at an accountant. Even $25 a month is a lot for them compared to $189 for a new stand alone disk every 3 years? Someone is going to realize this and come up with another version of quickbooks and everyone will jump on board.
Are you talking about QBO or QBD?
Your new innovations are useless to me. I resent having to now pay your exorbitant annual fee! $110. Increase! For no added value for me. If I could find a simple alternative for my basic accounting needs I would be gone. You don’t take your customers needs into account, you just sit in your ivory tower and ad useless things so you can justify ( in your own mind) changing more. Stop smoking your own exhaust and ask what your customers really want/ need!
Are you using QBSE or QBO Simple Start?
Quickbooks Essentials
Check your PM. Hope it helps.
There are several alternatives. You may want to check out Fresh Freshbooks, Xero or Zoho. Zoho Books is pretty easy to use and I believe it starts at only $15/month (free to companies with <$50K revenue/year!!)
Actually, with desktop you pay the $400 and you can manage books for multiple businesses using that one user license. The number of users has to do with multi users within one company.
Check out Zoho, Freshbooks or Xero. All less expensive and all fine for basic bookkeeping.
$1,000!!??! Ihave most years 2010-2018. It used to cost about $380!!

Did you by chance just get a notification that now as of December 1st they want to charge $2 per employee for payroll? This is complete highway robbery. I am just a small business and now my rate will go up another $20? I did call and i got the run around. very disappointed if im honest. $55 increase in a matter of months!!
QB Desktop is a one time license, but now Intuit is charging an annual "fee." This is supposed to be to help better assist with support. I doubt support will improve.
Can someone please stop Fiat Lux from spamming all over these message boards?
Do you have any concern about our posts? I replied your post 4 weeks ago and not spamming.
I completely agree! I am interested in switching to Wave. Do you know if they have any tagging options for specific types of business/personal expenses? That is the only feature I don't want to give up on QB.
Thanks!
You need to explore another app to have the tag feature. Contact us in private for details.
Thanks!
I am as well so frustrated with price increases My fees since July have increased 125%. Unfortunately I have to resort to this to be heard. No sure this matters to intuit but the more people that complain maybe they will listen. It’s absurd that they can do this to small business during a pandemic when so many companies are struggling.
1500 annually I am paying, insane I have a seasonal business 5 employees max, really stupid I will convert end of the year and never come back.
I've actually been a QuickBooks Desktop user since 2008. I purchased the new version every year and had an enhanced payroll subscription. This year I got tricked into QuickBooks Desktop "Plus", and didn't realize I got pushed into a Software subscription too with no way to convert back to the previous version.
It was a bit of a pain, but I just went back to my old version of QB and entered re-entered all bills, invoices and transactions that occurred in the past year. I'm dropping my payroll subscription and will be using another company. This will buy me some time while I switch to another accounting software.
Thanks for the information regarding Wave...It sounds like a good candidate.
SHAME ON YOU INTUIT FOR FORCING YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS INTO A SUBSCRIPTION MODEL AND RAISING YOUR PRICES!

If you are still using QBD 2021, don't upgrade to QBD 2022. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2021 from several partners.
With minimal effort for every 6 months, you can get 40% off your subscription. Contact us in private for details.
