Join nowUnfortunately, this help response is not helpful in this situation. I have opened 3 cases and spoken to 3 different Customer Help Support who all had the same response. They were very confused-did incognito and could not solve this for me. They then would let me know QB is aware of the issue and it is be fixed. This is now almost a year later. The other users in this thread have been more helpful than Customer Support. :(
It doesn't work.
I have to make 50+ invoices daily and it is very frustrating! Have doen Incognito, cleared cache. Is there anyone who has had any joy.
Could the support people at Quickbooks start by replicating the problem!? And then foprward the error to your development team?
Allow me to chime in on this thread regarding your concern about sorting product lists in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Wildman.
When categories are enabled, customers have the option to sort products and services by category in QBO. As long as the products and services are assigned to a category, this will alter how products and services show in drop-down menus.
That said, the program sorts items by their parent and subcategory lists to display, so this is by design and not a bug in the product.
Additionally, including goods and services as items on your sales forms can result in more thorough financial reporting for you. You can read this post for more advice on controlling and tracking the goods and services you sell: Add product and service items to QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if you have more concerns with products and services. The Community always has your back. Have a good one!
What a conceding response. No one is talking about categories. There is an error in the programing in QBO that no one seems to care enough to fix because it apparently doesn't effect everyone. I have documented proof of this by the thousands of dollars I've hired people to try to fix this and none can because it is the program itself. Not the way I have it set up, not my internet/computer, and not user error.
For me the problem doesnt really relate to the dropdown box when you are creating an invoice which is sorted by categories and sub categories - but locating a product would take you an awful lot of scrolling each time if you have many products using this facility. So most people use a keyword in the search box and the problem is that the search box doesnt respect the categories / sub categories that you have set up so just produces a jumbled mix of products of anything with the key word included. The search box should (like in QB desktop) first look in the category field then sub category field then product / service description - to produce a smaller subset products to scroll down and select from.
Im sure the QB team can get both pieces of software next to each other (Desktop and QBO) to see the problem and the frustrations this is causing.
