Why is my Fixed Assets showing up in my Products and Services List? And how do I get them out?

Hey Raintre3,

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community! I went ahead and tested this in my account by creating a Fixed Asset from my Chart of Accounts and viewing the Product and Services List. However, the Fixed Asset I made didn't appear on the list. What I suggest is double-checking to see how the item is set up. Quick question, though, did you simply go to the Product and Service list and select New and create a product? If this is the case, this will explain why you see the products that you deem as fixed assets in the Product and Service  Fixed Assets should not be a part of that list if set up correctly. Here is how to make those items inactive:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Product and Service.
  2. In the Action column, use the Edit drop-down arrow and select Make inactive.
  3. Select Yes to confirm to remove the item from the list.

Now, if you would like to create those Fixed Assets Accounts, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the New icon.
  3. Change the account type to Fixed Assets and add the other information.
  4. Save the information once finished.

For more information about Fixed Assets, use this article as a guide. Please let me know if this is a different scenario, and II will be here to assist you as well. I'm looking forward to your reply. Take care for now!

I just converted QB Desktop to QB Online and this is how it showed up in my Products and Services account. I went into the Chart of Accounts and clicked on each account to make sure that it was listed as Fixed Asset and not an Income Account. So far all of them were listed in the Chart of Accounts as a Fixed Asset. So, I'm not sure how to go about getting rid of the Fixed Assets in the Product & Services List and why they are showing as an Income! Please HELP!

Also, if I make the Assets inactive in the Products & Services list. Will that take them out of my Fixed Assets?
